Obama aide says impeachment threat taken seriously

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) —One of President Barack Obama's top advisers says the White House takes seriously the possibility that House Republicans could pursue impeachment of the president.

Senior White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters Friday that the GOP has already "opened the door for impeachment" by contemplating suing the president over his use of executive authority. He says that any further executive action Obama may sign this year on immigration will "up the likelihood" of Republicans pursuing that path.

"Pfeiffer was dismissive about how good a case Republicans could make to come up with impeachable offenses. But he says it would be foolish to discount the possibility that Republicans would at least consider pursuing impeachment."

Please proceed, Congressmen.

right? Folks the media has trounced that man from day one >FUNDED by the far right party.. Nope the nest of vipers in DC set that man up to fail and have obstructed him at every turn. I even spent two years looking at the other sides rhetoric just to make sure I was right.. THis was always about making the guy who is darker fail. I am so angry at folks for kicking a man when he is down. Yet , as a Native American and a disabled person, why the heck am I surprised this is so?

Use what is between you ears. WHO benefits from denigrating our POTUS? Why would they defame him if they didn't have an agenda. Washington DC is full of people without even one whit of ethics. Creator have mercy
I don't give a darn if I am the last person..I will support our president because at one time, I too doubted him.I found I was wrong.. KIcking folks when they are down is the behavior of those who don't think of how their actions affect others. They trashed Carter too in the media. They always do trash those who try to be real. Does anyone even look behind a story and ask the hard questions anymore... nope.. just lemmings.. always a bunch of lemmings headed over the cliff

Pull an FDR, just to watch the righties crap their pants.

Or better yet, use it as a bargaining chip to actually get something worthwhile done.

Republican pettiness and gossip-mongering would be enshrined in the historical record to make it impossible for them to ever resurrect themselves from the dead.

On the other hand, if spending decade trying to figure out how Bill Clinton got willing sex partners instead of having to use rent boys like them bury them in ignominy, nothing will.

Do they really think they'll be welcomed as heroes for impeaching the first black president on flimsy grounds? Even tho Obama's popularity has sunk it doesn't mean the country wants to go through an impeachment process. It makes the Congress look worse, not better.

there will be no Senate trial - for which conviction would take a 2/3 vote.

If the WH really took it seriously, they wouldn't say anything.

websites, I'm not sure that the President will receive uniform support from D and D-leaning voters in November if he stakes out an aggressive administrative position on additional immigration.

Many of the commentators write something akin to boxer Roberto Duran's "no mass."

Don't kill the messenger here.
