Rep. Steve King (R-IA) Begs President Obama: ‘Please Dont’ Make Me Impeach You Over Immigration EO's

Source: The Raw Story Sunday, August 3, 2014 11:09 EDT

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) pleaded with President Barack Obama not to force the House of Representatives to begin impeachment hearings by taking executive action on reforming the immigration process after Congress failed to do so. In an interview on Sunday, Fox News host Chris Wallace asked King what Republicans would do if the president decided to take executive action to stop the deportation of 11 million undocumented immigrants.

“None of us want to do the thing that’s left for us as an alternative,” King explained. “But if the president has decided that he’s simple not going to enforce any immigration law or at least not against anybody except the felons — which essentially he has done already, this is a broader group of people — I think Congress has to sit down and have a serious look at the rest of this Constitution, and that includes that i-word that we don’t want to say.”

The Iowa Republican added: “And I only say that now because I want to encourage the president, ‘Please don’t put America into a constitutional crisis. Please don’t do that. There’s too much at stake in this country to be decided that you can take over the Constitution and write it at will.’” “You’re saying that if he were to do that, impeachment would be on the table?” Wallace pressed.

“I think then we have to sit down and take a look at that,” King insisted. “If that’s not enough to bring that about then I don’t know what would be. We’ve never seen anything in this country like a president who says I’m going make up all the immigration law that I choose.”

Excuses from the criminal mind:

'Just look at her! What did she expect? She made me rape her!'

And:

'He shoulda known I was gonna rob him! It's not my fault.'

And the 'simply not follow the law' ruse is another lie they are telling.

Obama is following the law on children at the border signed and reauthorized by Bush before Obama got into office.

Yet it's illegal if Obama obeys it?

What's dangerous is the media making his words viral.

The initial meeting of the one-term only conspiracy was that no matter what PBO did, they'd ignore his authority, and they full intended to impeach him right after he was elected in 2008. Now GOPs put impeaching him in state platforms.

They said they had to destroy his legacy.

Which means they want to destroy the ideals and people the legacy benefits and the changes they elected him to make.

If America stands by and lets this travesty happen, as they did in 2010, and doesn't vote the GOP out of office, we're done both as a nation and as a relatively free people in the world.

GOP Rep. Steve King Defends Dogfighting

by Scott Keyes - July 31, 2012

If you believe that the United States should legalize dogfighting because we allow humans to fight, fear not. You’ve got an ally in the United States Congress.

During a tele-townhall late last week, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) fielded a question about his opposition to animal rights and recently introduced legislation that would undermine local standards preventing animal torture. “It’s wrong to rate animals above human beings,” he told the questioner. To make his point, King argued that “there’s something wrong” for society to make it a “federal crime to watch animals fight” but “it’s not a federal crime to induce somebody to watch people fighting...”

Of course, there is a very good reason we ban dogfighting and other similar forms of cruelty: animals don’t have a choice in the matter. Manny Pacquiao chooses to step into the ring. Michael Vick’s dogs did not. Similarly, when a human boxer loses a fight, he is not ritually executed after the fight. The same is not always true in dogfighting.

Unfortunately, King is a longtime advocate for legalizing dogfighting, cockfighting, and other forms of animal torture. Most recently, he fought legislation that would make it illegal to bring a child to an animal fight. He has also set aside his love for states’ rights in order to forbid localities from enacting anti-animal torture standards.

http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/07/31/615951/steve-king-dogfighting/

While I understand the paranoia of some farmers on other practices (and understanding is NOT the same as endorsing) he's taken his stance too far. Uncomfortable with the fact he keeps on getting elected, as he is a stain on his state's reputation.

But the last part, where he 'fought legislation that would make it illegal to bring a child to an animal fight' and 'forbid localities from enacting anti-animal torture standards,' shows he is wants to eliminate any moral fabric we have left in this country. Neither of those acts have any redeeming value for Iowa.

His latest poutrage was about immigration, but if employer sanctions were carried out, half the fuss would be over with. His last rant that was filmed and then put online is so dishonest, because he likely gets campaign money from farms who hire iimmigrants at low wages, illegal or not.

Something profoundly wrong with that man. But there are a lot of good people and Democrats in Iowa, it's just that they are overrun.

Asshole. Even if the TeaPublican wackos think this is a good idea - the "party" still has enough collective memory to remember just how well this turned out the last time they tried it. This is all posturing to heat up the reich wing mouth breathers enough to extract cash from their wallets.

Even if they do get a majority in the Senate in 2014 and pull this off - what do they get? President Joe Biden? How does that help them? And what do you think will happen in the 2016 election? One more meaningless impeachment attempt might just end the GOP as a national party.

By all means dick head, bring it on.

they've already put out all the red meat to the base that they can on immigration, foreign policy with the russians / middle east policy, hobby lobby etc so this is the political 'hail mary' pass since the election polls are still unchanged with the Dems leading +2. Are they nutty enough to hijack the country for 3-4 months for blatant political gain before a mid term election? This 'throw it against the wall' approach and see what sticks is not governance, its madness

The bastards started hijacking the country on January 20, 2009, and they haven't stopped yet. Two or three more months of this isn't a huge problem for them.

If you want to see how dysfunctional a party can be, consider: the John Boehner wing has asked the president to take executive action to fix the immigration crisis (because, of course, the Republicans ain't gonna have anything to do with it - if they spend money the teabaggers will have their asses, if they aren't harsh enough the teabaggers will have their asses and if they're harsh enough for the teabaggers Wolfgang Schwanitz, the last chief of the East German Stasi, will go on television to point out "y'all may be going just a bit too far...&quot and the Ted Cruz wing has threatened to impeach him if he does anything short of deporting anyone without blonde hair and blue eyes then passing out MRAPs and M60 machine guns to the KKK and the Craven Bundy Militia and deploying them to the Rio Grande Valley.

Because given the current emergency situation, if you decide to do the proper thing instead on your own, then we will go off the rails with more impeachment chatter, even though our illustrious Speaker Boehner acknowledges that it's all a 'Democrat' ruse. So hey, PLEASE don't make ME do this because given the rhetoric spewed so far, it would make our true intentions appear questionable!

In personal relationships, begging someone not to 'make you' do something nasty is one of the hallmarks of an abuser. In politics, it just sounds slimy,

It also appears that some of the Republicans consider impeachment as a normal way of trying to get rid of a president with whom you disagree. Being of the opposition party is not a 'high crime or misdemeanor'!
