With 65 percent of the vote, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich sailed to victory Thursday over Democratic challenger Joe Brown.
Im proud of the voters and happy and relieved for my supporters and for the community, Weirich said.
Reached by phone, Brown initially said he had no comment, but added, You have been making up stories in the press. Why dont you make one on this one?

Brown was a Shelby County Criminal Court judge for 10 years before leaving in 2000 to start in a nationally syndicated reality TV show Judge Joe Brown based on court case arbitrations. The show was canceled last year.

Joe Brown wasn't the only celebrity on the ballot in Tennessee. Meanwhile in the Nashville area, former Saturday Night Live star now conservative commentator Victoria Jackson lost her bid for the Williamson County Commission.

(22,000 posts)Hell, my 1st wife ran for a city councilor position (this is at the time we were married) and got about 900 votes (she lost as well) with no name recognition at all to begin with.
