No Press Access For Obama-Clinton Reunion
Source: Politico.com 53 minutes ago
The media will not have access to President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton's run-in at an upcoming party on Marthas Vineyard, White House deputy press secretary Eric Schultz said during Wednesday's briefing. The reunion, set to take place at Vernon Jordan's party on Wednesday night, comes after a public tiff that began when Hillary questioned Obama's foreign policy strategy during an interview with The Atlantic. The Obama camp responded by criticizing Clinton in The New York Times, while adviser David Axelrod chided the former Secretary of State for her support of the Iraq War in 2003.
Clinton signalled a cease-fire on Tuesday -- "Like any two friends who have to deal with the public eye, she looks forward to hugging it out," her spokesperson Nick Merrill said -- but the press corps is still eager to confirm the peace. "Can you talk about what is going to happen tonight -- if theres going to be any media access for this hug thats greatly anticipated?" one reporter asked Schultz during Wednesday's briefing.
"I don't expect open press access for this private social gathering of someones birthday," Schultz replied. "I understand the press interest here, so well try and get you a sense of some sort of readout of what happens after the fact." "We all want to see if they do indeed hug here," another reporter said. "So dont you think that that would be something that you would like to have seen American people? Secretary Clinton said that she wants to hug it out, so why not let everybody see it?"
"I believe the President and Secretary Clinton have had many hugs over the past few years," Schultz replied, to laughter. "I suspect many of them have been caught on camera. Again, I appreciate the request, but I do think this is a private social gathering for someones birthday. So its going to be hard to bring all of you lovely people in."

Hillary was out calling the President's policy of not arming the Syrian Rebels "a failure" and "not doing stupid stuff is not a policy".. And, you want reporters to crash a private birthday party so Hillary can show off her "hug".
Twitter
Just to clarify: "Don't do stupid stuff" means stuff like occupying Iraq in the first place, which was a tragically bad decision.

Obama Reportedly Called Criticism of His Syria Policy Horseshit
"Apparently President Obama has had it with the argument that he should have armed the Syrian rebels during the early days of the civil war. The old complaint was revived as the situation in Iraq worsened last week, most famously by Hillary Clinton. In an interview with The Atlantic, Clinton noted that she urged the president to intervene in Syria, and said that failing to arm the moderates "left a big vacuum," which ISIS filled.
Now the Daily Beast reports that when Republican Senator Bob Corker raised the issue during a meeting with Senate and House leaders on July 31, the president became "visibly agitated." He concluded his lengthy response by telling Corker that the idea that early U.S. intervention would have led to a better outcome in Syria was "horseshit." Obama wasn't alluding to Clinton, as her remarks hadn't been published yet, but it seems he's so frustrated by the criticism that he's forgetting to let his anger translator Luther do the cursing."
