Missouri governor lifts Ferguson curfew as National Guard called in

FERGUSON, Mo., Aug 18 (Reuters) - Missouri Governor Jay Nixon lifted the curfew for the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson on Monday and began deploying National Guard troops to help quell days of rioting and looting spurred by the fatal shooting of a black unarmed teenager by a white policeman.

Nixon, who had declared a state of emergency for the town on Saturday and ordered that the streets be cleared for a curfew that ran from midnight to 5 a.m., said the National Guard would fall under the supervision of the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The deployment of the National Guard is the latest in a series of steps taken by authorities to end the looting and burning of stores that have punctuated protests since the shooting death of Michael Brown, 18, more than a week ago.

But retired local business owner Marshall Tucker said: "It ain't getting no better with the National Guard coming in. That'll be worse," he said. "Tonight it's going to get really sticky."

This is just another republican running on the democratic ticket to gain power. So sick of these sellout warmongering centrists. You want to end rioting? Arrest the guy who committed murder. No need to waste taxpayer millions on the national guard. That one arrest will end it. Even if the guy isn't indicted it would at least tamp down the craziness.

what could possibly go wrong?

I agree, just file charges against the policeman and move along. Letting him flee the jurisdiction instead of accepting responsibility for a mistake AT BEST, or a cold-blooded murder AT WORST, just perpetuates citizen unrest. I guarantee if a cop was shot there would have been a charge within minutes.

They want more riots. They are at war with the poor people all across America. They are all armed to the teeth, and they are ready for a fight.
Where are the militias now?

they found someone to interview named Marshall Tucker. Did they talk to his wife, Molly Hatchet, as well?
