U.S. to meet with Iran over its nuclear program

Source: Washington Post

The United States and its international partners will meet with Iranian negotiators April 13-14 for a new round of talks over Iran’s nuclear program, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday.

“It will soon be clear whether Iran’s leaders are prepared to have a serious, credible discussion . . . to start building the trust we need to move forward,” Clinton said after a security conference held in Saudi Arabia with Persian Gulf Arab states.

“So far,” she said, “they have given little reason for confidence. What is certain is that Iran’s window to do so will not remain open forever.”

The announcement came the day after President Obama certified that global oil supplies are sufficient to move ahead with the tougher economic sanctions against Iran scheduled to take effect this summer.

Iran has a right to a nuclear program as does any nation in the world. They have oil, they lack refineries and cannot even keep up with energy usage for their own citizens. They also have the right to nuclear medicine. There is not ONE shred of evidence they are working towards building a bomb (even if doing so might be the only thing that saves them from the the same invasion and Iraq - with it's nuclear clouds and yellow-cake). Recently even the U.S. and Israel have expressed doubts they're building nukes.

Intel shows Iran nuclear threat not imminent

(Reuters) - The United States, European allies and even Israel generally agree on three things about Iran's nuclear program: Tehran does not have a bomb, has not decided to build one, and is probably years away from having a deliverable nuclear warhead.

Those conclusions, drawn from extensive interviews with current and former U.S. and European officials with access to intelligence on Iran, contrast starkly with the heated debate surrounding a possible Israeli strike on Tehran's nuclear facilities.

"They're keeping the soup warm but they are not cooking it," a U.S. administration official said.

Reuters has learned that in late 2006 or early 2007, U.S. intelligence intercepted telephone and email communications in which Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a leading figure in Iran's nuclear program, and other scientists complained that the weaponization program had been stopped.

Khamenei Takes Control, Forbids Nuclear Bomb

Posted on 03/04/2012 by Juan Cole

Early returns in Iran’s 9th parliamentary election since the 1979 revolution show that Ahmadinejad’s lay populists have taken a drubbing , and that hard line supporters of clerical Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei are ascendant. Ahmadinejad’s sister, Parvin, who stood for election from their own hometown of Garmsar, was defeated, a major blow to the president.

Western reporters keep saying that the parliamentary results have no implication for Iran’s nuclear program. But they only say this because they either don’t pay attention to what Iranian leaders actually say, or discount their statements as lies (treating them much less respectfully than they treated notorious fraud Andrew Breitbart in their fluffy obituaries last week).

A week and a half ago, Khamenei gave a major foreign policy speech in which he said,

““The Iranian nation has never pursued and will never pursue nuclear weapons. There is no doubt that the decision makers in the countries opposing us know well that Iran is not after nuclear weapons because the Islamic Republic, logically, religiously and theoretically, considers the possession of nuclear weapons a grave sin and believes the proliferation of such weapons is senseless, destructive and dangerous.”

US admits Iran has no Nuclear Weapons Program

http://www.whiteoutpress.com/articles/q12012/us-admits-iran-has-no-nuclear-weapons-program491/

February 29, 2012. Washington. A few days ago, the Los Angeles Times incurred the wrath of numerous pro-war entities, including the US government and the state of Israel. The paper exposed top secret US intelligence assessments stating that the United States government, along with all 16 of its spy agencies, do not believe Iran has a nuclear weapons program, much less the facilities or capabilities to start one.

US Intelligence Director James Clapper testified before a Senate Intelligence Committee that it was the opinion of America's 16 spy agencies that Iran was not pursuing nuclear weapons, or a nuclear weapons program.

The most recent US intelligence assessment, the method by which President Obama and his advisors receive the latest global espionage reports from around the world, suggests that the Iranian government is only pursuing nuclear energy at this time. Although, the report also insists that the regime of Iranian President Ahmadinejad is determined to reach a level of nuclear development that would give the country the capability and technology to launch a nuclear weapons program one day, if the country’s leaders so desired.

In an ominous warning, critics of US foreign policy point to the propaganda build-up before the invasion of Iraq, all of which was contrary to the facts. At that time, Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein had given in to all the US and UN’s demands for inspections and documentation, but US authorities continued to insist the Iraqis were not only hiding stockpiles of chemical weapons, but actively developing nuclear weapons out of mobile freight trucks.

But of course, they're all lying. The U.S. has how many bombs? And has used how many? My comment was in regard to the hypocrisy. If you find that entertaining, well ........ good for you, your opinion of my comment doesn't matter a rat's azz to me.

Apologies for all the edits.
