Dunn guilty of first-degree murder for killing Jordan Davis

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Michael Dunn was found guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder for killing 17-year-old Jordan Davis on Nov. 23, 2012, in a dispute over loud music.

The jury that heard Dunn's first trial in February found him guilty of three counts of attempted murder and firing into an occupied vehicle, but a mistrial was declared on the first-degree murder charge when the jury remained deadlocked after 30 hours of deliberations.

The jury in the retrial deliberated for about five and a half hours.

But Dunn, a Brevard County man who was in Jacksonville for his son’s wedding, will spend the rest of his life in prison to reflect on why he chose to fire those fatal shots. Wednesday afternoon a jury of seven white men, three white women, one black man and one black woman found him guilty of first-degree murder.

A gasp was heard as the verdict was read and appeared to come from Lucia McBath, Davis’ mother. Dunn remained expressionless and stayed stone-faced as the jury was polled to make sure this was the verdict.

Under Florida law Dunn must be sentenced to prison for life with no possibility of parole for the murder of Davis. He also faces a minimum of 60 years for the attempted murders of Leland Brunson, Tommie Stornes and Tevin Thompson, friends of Davis who were in the Dodge Durango with Davis when he died...

Some much-needed good news today. VERY good to see this bastard got the justice that should be coming to him. You can't just shoot somebody dead because you don't like their music (or the volume of it). THANK GOD there are actually some juries that can come to sensible conclusions.
