Police seize ambush suspect's food supplies
By MICHAEL RUBINKAM, Associated Press | October 3, 2014 | Updated: October 3, 2014 4:10pm

Law enforcement officials tracking the survivalist charged with ambushing a rural Pennsylvania State Police barracks said Friday that they have found caches of food and other supplies and believe he'll likely start breaking into cabins or searching through trash bins to sustain himself.

Police found a campsite recently used by 31-year-old Eric Frein and found tuna fish, ramen noodles and other food and clothing as well as 90 rounds from a rifle of the same type used in the deadly Sept. 12 ambush, Lt. Col. George Bivens said. Police previously said they found two pipe bombs belonging to Frein at the same campsite.

"Because we continue to push Frein, and to seize the items he needs to survive, we believe he will be forced to search for food and shelters in other locations," said Bivens, who gave an update on the manhunt three weeks after the shooting that killed Cpl. Bryon Dickson and seriously wounded Trooper Alex Douglass.

Hundreds of law enforcement officials have been searching for Frein in the woods around his parent's home in Canadensis. Police have spoken with Frein's family about making a public appeal for his surrender, but no decision has been made, Bivens said.

to identify and track and coordinate contact with signatures. If they can do that with Jaguars around the Mexico/Arizona border, surely they can do it in the mountains.

mile area, that has a huge number of rock shelters and caves. So it's highly unlikely that he is in the open, especially during the day light hours, much. However, as there have been some reported sightings -- assuming they were him -- he may be venturing out more days.

I would not be surprised if he has had some assistance.

I'm confident that they will catch him soon.

and replaced his bullets with blanks and just waited for him to come back for the stuff.

Instead of seizing the stuff and believing "he'll likely start breaking into cabins or searching through trash bins to sustain himself."

8. They may well have seized some of his caches but left others they can watch.

Especially if they give a press release suggesting they think they've got everything, he might be more likely to assume they haven't found the rest and walk into a trap.

Pretty hard to dose sealed items. Also, all tranks are extremely bitter and would be immediately noticed.

10. Was it his cache or was it planted by Frein to mess with the cops?

If Frein was planning this ambush...what's to say that he didn't put these caches in place for the authorities to find?

There have been no actual sightings of this man since the shooting, and it seems the DNA from the diapers they've found have proven to be inconclusive, dogs can't track him for some reason, IR isn't able to work, personally I'm not sure he's even still in the area!

The problem as I see it, is that the cops are thinking like cops...they aren't thinking like Frein! If as it has been assumed, Frein was planning this attack...then what makes them think he didn't also plan to lead the authorities on a merry little chase, just to satisfy his ego?
