New York ex-convict shot within minutes of release from prison

MOUNT HOPE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a New York City man was shot within minutes of being released from an upstate prison.

Police say the 33-year-old ex-convict was shot in the Orange County town of Mount Hope around 10 a.m. Thursday, about 15 minutes after being released from the medium-security prison in nearby Otisville.

The man managed to get to a nearby train station, where someone called 911. State police say the man underwent surgery at Westchester Medical Center. Information on his condition hasn’t been released.

Authorities say they are seeking two men spotted fleeing the scene in a car with Illinois plates.

Two posts speculating on cops shooting a man, then another agreeing that cops may have shot the man. This raises -or lowers- DU to a whole new level. Why not space aliens shooting the man, his victims, a drive-by, former lover - anyone? But , no- had to name and speculate that it had to be cops.

I didn't suggest anyone shot him, though obviously, someone did.

I relayed my first thought. Considering what the headlines have been of late, it wasn't an unreasonable assumption that a post on DU about someone being shot might be because a cop shot the guy.

all of those are possibilites.

One post just mentioned initial thought at seeing the headline. The other poster acknowledge the possibility it could have been cops which has been known to happen. We don't anything yet but I don't see it as any more of a big deal than the first posters speculating that it was people planning to kill him when released.
