Warner, Gilliespie say Obama was too slow to act on Ebola

Source: Richmond Times-Dispatch

Sen. Mark R. Warner, D-Va., and his Republican challenger, Ed Gillespie, sparred over ethics, money in politics, the future of Social Security and even Ebola at a debate in Richmond Monday.

Amid news that a health care worker in Dallas had become infected with the disease, both candidates agreed that President Barack Obama has been too slow to deal with the Ebola crisis.

Warner said it may be time to consider restrictions on flights as some European nations have done, “particularly with a nation like Liberia, where Ebola has spread so widely.”

Gillespie said it’s too late to merely consider stopping flights from West Africa where there is an Ebola outbreak. “It’s time to impose a flight ban in that regard and that’s what this administration should do.”

Washington Post: Warner, Gillespie spar over Puckett scandal, energy, Ebola

RICHMOND — Republican Ed Gillespie attacked U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner for discussing the possibility of a federal judgeship for the daughter of a Democrat who was on the verge of quitting the evenly split state Senate and throwing control to the GOP.

In the pair’s third and final campaign debate in Richmond on Monday, the Republican underdog used the very first question as an opportunity to bring up Warner’s recently revealed job talks with the son of former state senator Phillip P. Puckett.

Pivoting from an unrelated question on voting rights, Gillespie said Virginia’s voters deserve answers from Warner if he discussed a judicial appointment in exchange for Puckett — who is from Russell County in southwest Virginia — remaining in his seat.

“This is very serious in terms of the federal bench, (it) has a big impact on our lives, and we need to make sure the qualified people are put on the bench, and I would never play politics with recommending judicial appointments,” Gillespie said.

home for treatment from the front lines. So far one person slipped thought and got here after lying at an inadequate airport screening. Inadequately trained medical personel here in the states is the failure of hospitals to train and educate, granted CDC fell face first.

Any airport in the world could be a portal to get here.

The UN needs to step up its game it always lags behind...ebola has been a problem for some time on the African continent.

trying to get reelected. slamming POTUS. No mention of REPUB obstruction. These are the 'bluedog cowards' I can't stomach. No principle, ethics, loyalty or backbone to stand up to repubs instead of playing into their agenda of blaming Obama for everything from Iraq to Ebola. Shameful!!!!!!!!!!!.

Neither one of them could say what he should have done sooner, right?

Did Warner say what should have been done as a Senator?
