Ky Gov: McConnel is Misleading Kentucky on Obamacare

Source: Talking Points Memo

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) accused Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) of misleading Kentuckians about Obamacare when the Senate Republican leader said on Monday night he wants to repeal the law but believes it's "fine" to keep the state's Obamacare exchange, Kynect.

"Tonight, Mitch McConnell looked into the camera and misled Kentucky about his plan to take Kynect from more than 500,000 Kentuckians who have gained health care in the last year," the governor said in a statement. "Mitch told Kentuckians he'd keep the website up, while pulling the plug on federal funding, tax credits, and tearing down a marketplace that has made Kentucky a model of success for the nation — all to advance his partisan political agenda that has Washington in gridlock to the point of paralysis."

Kynect, the state's portal for Obamacare, has funneled federal subsidies to cover some 500,000 Kentuckians on the private insurance market or Medicaid.

During Monday night's Senate debate, McConnell called Obamacare "the worst piece of legislation in the last half-century" and said it should be repealed "root and branch." When pressed on the impacts of scrapping the law, McConnell said it's "fine" to keep the Kynect website, though he didn't address whether he would take away the subsidies if Obamacare is repealed, or whether he would fund them a different way.

McConnell is a liar and worse.........
Obamacare is a piece of legislation that will save thousands of Kentucky families their homes and savings, and more important ...

...lives: parents, children, singles, marrieds, old and young, gay and straight..

I hope this one statement ends his career.

He should have been telling Kentuckians Kyneck is Obamacare for the past year.Instead of letting the republicans say Obamacare is different than Kyneck as most in that poor ass state think.Once again this just shows how inept the democrats are.

Gov. Steve Beshear Urges Fellow Democrats To Take Obamacare 'And Run With It'

"WASHINGTON -- Fresh off a six-month period in which his state defied expectations to become one of Obamacare's defining success stories, Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) sees room for additional growth.

Beshear told The Huffington Post that he has had conversations with several insurance companies interested in entering Kentucky's health care exchange when open enrollment begins again this November. And though many of the 420,000 state residents who obtained insurance this past cycle were the so-called low-hanging fruit -- people either desperate for coverage or eligible for Medicaid -- Beshear's expectation is that word-of-mouth testimonials will persuade those who didn't sign up already that it's a good buy."

The Medicaid expansion is way better than socialism. Keep the government out of Medicare!

Obama is so bad that unemployment is 20% and inflation is in triple digits like Zimbabwe and Mexican IS members brought Ebola to Texas!

DSCC just basically told Ms. Grimes to go f herself. They pulled the plug on anymore funding in Kentucky. They claim it will be better served in Georgia. All I can say is Kentuckians.... you will reap what you sow. Keep putting in McConnell and watch your state slip into the Tar Pit of Life. Your healthcare is about to be taken from you and all you can do it still vote for the disgusting animal that will pull it from you.... seeya Kentucky, the only thing you have going now is a horse race, and sorry thats for rich people as well.....

DSCC - YOU SUCK

Funny conversation the other day with a Mitch SUPPORTER (go figure). This is someone self employed "one man band" type and saving a bundle with the subsidies through Obamacare and Kynect. Blabbering full tilt anti-Obamacare blabbity blah.

I let him finish bloviating and then in the most neutral way I could asked him if he likes his health insurance. Lot better than before -- Kynect price is a lot cheaper than buying direct. This is a fairly intelligent man but genuinely thought Kynect is Kentucky only and has nothing to with evil Obamacare. In fact, his wife turned down a great offer in another state because they have a sickly child and they don't want to lose Kynect.

Mitch and Republicans in general are exploiting the disconnect. We have to get people to really understand the 8 Zillion ways delivery of medical care has been subsidized by the Federal government every day of the life of pretty much anyone living. This one man left our conversation understanding that NOT having a nationalized medical care system cost his wife a great opportunity. His family increased income, and a job creator in the other state the benefit of a fantastic worker.

He left thinking. He will probably still vote for Mitch.... but he left thinking.
