An Ebola-infected Texas nurse who traveled to Ohio over the weekend to plan for her wedding may have been ill as early as Friday, a spokesman for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday.
Dr. Christopher Braden told a news conference in Ohio that the CDC may include people who were on a flight Amber Joy Vinson, 29, took to Cleveland from Dallas on Friday in its investigation of possible contacts.
Vinson went to a bridal shop in Akron on Saturday but otherwise spent the weekend mainly with family before taking a return flight to Dallas on Monday, the day before she was diagnosed with Ebola, according to county health officials.
"We had started to look at the possibility that she had symptoms going back as far as Saturday," Braden said.

(29,876 posts)AKRON, Ohio - A health official says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expanding its Ebola investigation to include passengers on a Friday flight from Dallas to Cleveland that carried a nurse later diagnosed with the disease.
Dr. Chris Braden of the CDC said Thursday that health officials are investigating whether Amber Vinson had symptoms since Saturday. He says she may "have had the start of her illness on Friday."
The 29-year-old was visiting family in the Akron area last weekend. She flew Monday from Cleveland back to Dallas before being diagnosed. Officials previously stressed that Vinson didn't show symptoms during her Ohio visit.
Braden says health officials will include passengers on Vinson's Friday flight into Cleveland as part of their investigation of contacts, in addition to passengers on Monday's flight.

(18,791 posts)Gut feeling has been that there was something wrong with her story the whole time.
This will get more to the truth, that she was already starting to feel ill, earlier than we were led to believe.
While there are fabulous healthcare workers around, I sure wouldn't want this one making decisions for me...what an idiot.

(15,703 posts)of everything it seems. I guess a compromised immune system.
I was reading where it takes quite a bit of the virus to get it started in most people, maybe those with a bad immune system, it may not take as much. They have been judging everything by the way Africans react to the virus. I would bet the Africans have a very good immune systems judging by the way they have to live.
I was never worried about ebola in the developed world. But

Hoping nobody else dies from his actions.

(146 posts)Actually, her actions were worse. She knew she was exposed. I don't care if she called the CDC and those half wits gave her their "blessing" to fly. I'm not a healthcare worker and do not have their knowledge and if I'm exposed to ebola the last thing I would consider doing is plane hopping for any reason. Especially with having symptoms. She selfishly put the lives of many at risk, including her own family and fiancé.

70 new cases a day in Liberia.
And a reporters comment how our hospital system is a "make it up as they go system"...
Wow.
p.s...my jaw just dropped as he said that they are preparing to move the first nurse, from Dallas to Bethesda...I didn't even know she was still in Dallas.

Doctor: Let me review your history first. How much alcohol do you drink a week?
Man: Is a sin to drink alcohol. I never touch a single drop
Doctor: Do you smoke?
Man: I hate smokers and I dont smoke.
Doctor: Are you married?
Man: Nope, I want to keep myself pure in case I get AIDS
Doctor: What time do you sleep at night?
Man: 10pm on sharp every night.
Doctor: You must be having bad headache everyday.
Man: Yes, but how do you know?
Doctor: Well, the bright halo over your head is definitely too tight for you.

After reading the comments this seemed apropos. It mentions what I think is a far more common, and sometimes dangerous, affliction than ebola.
Here.
