PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) Former President Bill Clinton is in Arkansas hoping to keep its state government and the U.S. Senate in Democratic hands.
Clinton set rallies for three cities in the state as he tries to boost turnout by Democratic voters. Republicans have made significant gains in the state since Clinton left office and hope to grab a U.S. Senate seat and give the GOP control of the U.S. Senate.
The ex-president was on familiar ground Sunday in Pine Bluff. Rallies in 2000 and 2002 helped put Mike Ross in the U.S. House and Mark Pryor in the U.S. Senate. Ross is now running for governor against former Republican congressman Asa Hutchinson, Pryor is seeking a third term against Republican congressman Tom Cotton.
Republicans also have sent nationally known figures to Arkansas.
