Whistleblowers: IRS officials behind fraudulent multi-billion dollar corporate tax giveaways

A 10-year veteran Internal Revenue Service (IRS) attorney has demanded a Congressional audit of the IRS to investigate the agencys alleged role in allowing American corporations to illegally avoid paying billions of dollars in taxes at the same time the agency is cracking down on individuals and small businesses.
In a letter to Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, IRS commissioner John A. Koskinen, and IRS chief counsel William Wilkins, Jane J. Kim, an attorney in the IRS Office of the Chief Counsel in New York, accused IRS executives of deliberately facilitating multi-billion dollar tax giveaways. The letter, dated October 19, will add further pressure on the agency, which is under fire for allegedly targeting conservative and Tea Party groups.
Kim, who has previously blown the whistle on gross waste of government resources in the IRS New York field offices, wrote in her new letter that senior IRS officials have intentionally undermined the authority of the IRS Whistleblower Office to avoid taking action in cases involving billions in corporate taxes due. The IRS also refuses to enforce laws for large corporate taxpayers, resulting in giveaways of further billions, despite applying the same laws with draconian strictness to small business, the self-employed, and wage-earning individuals.

By the time he left office the practice was institutionalized and, of course, those political appointees Bush left behind to oversee the IRS would be in those positions to 2014.
There was quite a bit of house cleaning that needed to be done, but strangely wasn't. Republicans with dirty hands were left all over government to continue the same policies behind the scenes. The CIA, NSA, FDA, all over. And surprise, here's another one!
Curiouser and curiouser. The further down the rabbit hole you go, the more the actions and outcomes make sense.

(18,652 posts)and it won't hurt Dems if O shows some presidential strength and cleans house in all these agencies that do nothing but tow the corporate line

(10,495 posts)elections and outlawing campaign contributions. Once we have Reppresentative Democracy again, we can bust up the media and banking oligopolies, and reform the revolving door. There is so much corruption here it makes all of the third would countries look squeaky clean!
Of course it would take millions of pissed off Americans committed to fighting for all of this, I don't think we are there yet!

(5,178 posts)The only thing that ever trickled down from Reaganomics was the moral and ethical behavior they displayed for everyone else to emulate. And emulate it they have. Steal, lie and on the slightest chance you ever do get called on it, just say you don't recall. The buck stops nowhere.

But let the corporate greedy tax evaders go free with whatever they want.

(750 posts)Dont you just adore that theme talked about once in a while called dump the IRS?
Or just a while ago one of the political people or several say on occasion just get rid of the IRS department.
Here in Illinois that billionaire Bruce Rauner is definitely a one percenter buying his way to the governors office, or trying to do that. Run Illinois like a business.
It was just the other day a progressive talk show host made announcement that this billionaire Bruce Rauner owned The Chicago Sun-Times newspaper. It is one of the largest newspapers in the Chicago area. The kicker is that newspaper endorses Rauner for the office of governor. Yikes a giant conflict of interest.
Sort of like Cheney and his Halliburton subcontractors. Actually one of the right wing news people announced that secret mercenary army in Iraq is found to have convictions for murder in the war at Iraq. This implication is devastating for Cheney and Bush, it should be. That war was all profiteering and crime.
Just run the government like a business on sales taxes. Imagine half the country is considered in poverty. Its no wonder in some communities its so obvious there is Wal-marts, dollar stores, general dollar stores, dollar tree, and a host of resale second hand shops, besides new glitzy pawn shops, and money for your car title, dont forget payday loan stores. Thats the new American business tax base
But think about that real relation to all laws configured for special reasons on record voted by elected officials. How the IRS is so tightly connected to every law for the past century. Heck the whole notion of that type of change shows we the people need an overhaul of all the legislation for the past century if it is intended to rid ourselves of the IRS.
I vote we the people of poverty must be included in the written structure of legislation moving forward. America needs a whole new approach to law in this new age we the people of poverty should be included
