White House fence jumper charged with assault

Source: AP-EXCITE

By DARLENE SUPERVILLE

WASHINGTON (AP) — The 23-year-old Maryland man who climbed over the White House fence Wednesday night has been charged with felonies for assaulting two police dogs and making threats, the Secret Service said Thursday.

Dominic Adesanya of Bel Air, Maryland, was in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service for previous outstanding warrants, Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary said. Adesanya has also been charged with four misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and unlawful entry.

This is not Adesanya's first arrest at the executive mansion. Records show he was also charged with unlawful entry at the White House complex in late July. A court document says he told an officer that a security barrier he jumped over "was easy and that the next fence to the south grounds of the White House would not be a problem as well."

Adesanya claimed a banking family that he said owned the Federal Reserve Bank was targeting him, and he said he wanted cameras that had been placed in his home removed, according to a court document. After the arrest he was ordered to get outpatient mental health screening and return to court Sept. 9.

That's a good question. They probably should have had the Whitehouse dogs stop her vehicle.

I wouldn't expect to find someone here who thought an alleged attempt to run over a cop (an allegation which should be easily supportable in the most surveilled place in the world, yet no tape has been produced to support it) justifies a street execution, in front of her young child no less.

Maybe I'm just too old, but I remember a day when any person who would call themselves a Democrat would recognize it as an extreme civil rights violation without needed to be baby-walked to that conclusion.

When did a single black mother become expendable in the name of supporting a hyper-paranoid security state?

You seem, for instance, to be suggesting that someone can put others in danger without fear of violent reprisal if they bring a small child along with them--i.e., if they endanger a small child.

That is indeed interesting.

were in possession of badges. All the poor murder victim did was take a wrong turn and try to get away after her car was attacked by strange men. No gunfire, and definitely no street execution, was called for.

And it's pretty clear that your assumption and conclusion are the same: that the cops murdered an innocent woman.

I've italicized the Secret Service actions and have emboldened the Capitol Police actions:

Capitol Hill Shooting Update: Miriam Carey, 34, Dental Hygienist suffered from Mental Illness

Miriam Carey, 34, of 114 Woodside Green drove her black Infiniti sedan onto a driveway leading to the White House, over a set of lowered barricades. When Carey couldn't get through a second barrier, she spun the car in the opposite direction, flipping a Secret Service officer over the hood of the car as she sped away, said B.J. Campbell, a tourist from Portland, Ore.

Carey worked as a dental hygienist and according to a local law enforcement official, she suffered from mental illness.

Carey's car at one point had been surrounded by police cars and she managed to escape, careening around a traffic circle and past the north side of the Capitol. Video shot by a TV camerman showed police pointing firearms at her car before she rammed a Secret Service vehicle and continued driving. Lanier said police shot and killed her a block northeast of the historic building.

One Secret Service member and a 23-year veteran of the Capitol Police were injured. Officials said they are in good condition and expected to recover.

Police shot and killed Carey just outside the Hart Senate Office Building, where many senators have their offices. Dine said an officer took the child from the car to a hospital. She is in good condition under protective custody, officials said...

to KoKo:

The video was posted on DU and the unfortunate woman was driving very fast and erratically, as described in KoKo's OP. It was a chaotic scene.

On October 3, 2013 in Washington, D.C. Miriam Carey, 34, a dental hygienist from Stamford, Connecticut, attempted to drive through a White House security checkpoint in her black Infiniti G37 coupe, struck a U.S. Secret Service officer, and was chased by the Secret Service to the United States Capitol where she was fatally shot by law enforcement officers. A young child, Carey's daughter, was found unharmed in the car after it was ultimately stopped...

At about 2:12 PM, a vehicle driven by Miriam Carey allegedly struck one of the White House barriers at the intersection of 15th St. NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW.[2] At 2:13 p.m. she drove into a well-marked, restricted White House checkpoint at 15th and E Streets NW, without authorization and without stopping, refused to stop when two uniformed Secret Service officers told her to. When an off-duty U.S. Secret Service officer placed a metal bike rack in her path to block her exit, struck the bike rack and the off-duty Secret Service officer who was standing behind it with her car, knocking both the bike rack and the officer onto the ground.[3] Secret Service attempted to arrest the suspect but she continued to drive the car evasively, colliding with one officer who fell on the hood of the car and rolled off.[4][5] Carey then drove 40-80 mph down Pennsylvania Avenue, weaving through traffic and ignoring red lights. Police gave chase east on Pennsylvania Avenue for a dozen blocks. The chase then proceeded south on 1st St. NW/SW between Peace Circle and Garfield traffic circle.

At Garfield Circle, uniformed and plain clothes Secret Service officers attempted to box the car in with at least five marked vehicles and one unmarked cruiser, on United States Capitol grounds, on the sidewalk on the east side of the circle. Four uniformed and two plainclothes officers proceeded to surround the car on foot with guns drawn, shouting orders. Carey eluded the box-in by backing into the Secret Service cruiser behind her and driving away striking a Secret Service officer in the process. The suspect proceeded at high speed north, circling Peace Circle twice and then proceeding east on Constitution Avenue. She got as far as the northeast corner of the Capitol grounds, in the vicinity of the Hart Senate Office Building, where she was forced off the road and stopped near a USCP security hut by the Sewall-Belmont House. During the chase, multiple shots were fired at the car of which five shots hit her from behind including one to the head.

She, like Gonzalez who jumped the fence, and most likely the latest jumper, had severe mental health problems:

Iraq vet, 42, 'who stormed the White House had more than 800 rounds of ammunition, a machete and two hatchets stashed in his car'

By Lydia Warren, Kieran Corcoran and Wills Robinson - Updated: 22 September 2014

...But relatives have insisted that Gonzalez, from Copperas Cove, Texas, suffers from post traumatic stress disorder after serving three tours in Iraq. He retired after losing part of his foot in an IED blast.

Jerry Murphy, whose mother was married to Gonzalez, said relatives always knew Gonzalez owned a small arsenal of weapons but said they doubted he intended to hurt Obama...

According to agents who arrested him, Gonzalez said that he was desperate to see the President to warn him about 'the atmosphere collapsing...'

His ex-wife said he was very paranoid and began carrying weapons all the time. He was up all night and checking things out. Finally she couldn't take it anymore.

'Omar is a good guy, he's just got some issues that he needs help with. I think this is a cry out for help, what he's done. He really does need help. I just hope he can get it.'

For whatever reason, and it is not the fault of the Secret Service, neither had effective mental health care, or else rejected it. I don't see any rush to kill people by the Secret Service. AFAIK, they drew down on her, but did not shoot, the Police did that.

One may not feel that it was warranted, but these are not the same kind of events. The link shows what the family described about the fence jumper, he was paranoid, sleepless, on the alert, known by his family to be full of fear.

The case of the woman who was killed is awful and a tragedy for her and her family, particularly that young child. If the fence jumper had done all that the woman who was killed did up and down the streets of the Capitol, I think his outcome would have been the same. He didn't get that far. His family says he did not want to kill Obama. Perhaps she did not want to kill Obama, either. But she was very close to killing someone with her vehicle. It's impossible to know what she was thinking but it had to be something terrible.

It appears there is no news story that tells her full story as the jumper's family has done. We don't know what horrors she was thinking about. I know people with paranoid schizophrenia. They can get fixated on what they consider to a danger to themselves or others. They will try hard to eliminate that threat. Perhaps this motivated both of them.

Both of these people were living in hell, not of their own making, but from falling to a deadly disease.

JMHO.

Does anyone believe that there were cameras in his home, or was he driven to it by Prison Planet, the Libertarians, or some other rightwing conspiracy site?

I see most of this as media induced, usually termed as stochastic terrorism. Taking advantage of people and getting them to act out. It would seem that one could ascertain the truth of his home being surveilled.

In fact, he should have been able to find out if he was being watched all by himself. That is a rather bizarre claim, if that is what he really meant.

Strangely, in this and the previous case, the jumpers wanted access to Obama. Perhaps not to harm him, but to get help from him. The previous jumper Gonzalez was quoted as wanting to see Obama to warn him about the 'atmosphere collapsing.'

There is a lot of panic being pushed, but no solutions are being offered to ease what they are fearing. Because the fight or flight state doesn't allow for looking for any solutions except to act on media voices. Or in the case of these unfortunate men, internal voices. After a while, is there any real difference?
