Joan Quigley, astrologer who advised Reagans, dies

Source: SF Gate

Joan Quigley, a San Francisco socialite and writer who became famous as the astrologer who advised President Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan in the 1980s, has died. She was 87.

Mrs. Quigley, who was fashionable and social but had a flinty stare, spent seven years as the White House astrologer, advising the Reagans on everything from when to schedule Air Force One takeoffs to the best time for summit meetings and surgeries. She also took credit for reshaping the president’s views on the Soviet Union, recommending a conciliatory rather than confrontational tone. It was Mrs. Quigley who urged President Reagan to stop using the term “Evil Empire.”

“Sometimes I would talk with Nancy for three hours a day,” Mrs. Quigley said in 1995, living at the time on Nob Hill with her sister, Ruth Quigley. She added, “I was hired in May of 1981 to protect the president. This was after he had been shot. I really timed everything the Reagans did. For seven years I worked with them, sometimes 10 hours a day.

“Reagan was the only Aquarian president who didn’t die in office,” she added.

Summary:

1.Astrology is regarded as a pseudoscience that the belief that the planets’ respective positions in space have some effect on human affairs and natural Earthly phenomena. It is more of a study.
2.Horoscopes are more of a chart or diagram that make use of astrology concepts. They serve as guides for people on how they should act or behave. To some degree, it also serves to foretell some parts of one’s future.
3.Some are skeptical with the use and validity of horoscopes. It is derived from the Greek word “horoskopos,” which means “looking at the hours.”

That last one should start "Not enough are skeptical...". It would be a more interesting world.

Both were bat shit crazy, were conscious of the fact and hid it from the public. The difference is King, though ruthless and ambitious, actually cared about ordinary people. Ordinary white people that is.

Heck, even the POPE is onto you, ronnie, and your foul, selfish, greedy, short-sighted, selfish, cockeyed, pennywise/pound-RIDICULOUSLY-FOOLISH, and did I say SELFISH world view. Mr. Anarchy. Because that's what his agenda really begat. Fucking ANARCHY. Giving the cretinous, thoughtless, willfully - indeed PROUDLY ignorant nutcases the freedom and the sanction to push us into total anarchy - the "nobody tells ME what to do" crowd. They don't really want an "America." What they are actively working toward is turning America into some sort of white people's Somalia: total anarchy, no government, no order, warlords and pirates running amok, power concentrated in the hands of a very few, millions of homeless, starving, disenfranchised refugee masses, and all the guns and ammo you can eat, all over the damn place! Somalia! American-style! They don't even realize it. Reminds me of that remark from the Cross - "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." But in this case, these utterly brainwashed idiots know not - PERIOD.

on Nancy. You know, the whole "weak and evil woman, rebelling against Gawd" and "if the President had known where Nancy's information came from he would have rebuked her in the name of Gawd and stopped her from consorting with Satan's minion" response.

I had a friend who did astrological charts for people (he was actually quite skilled). He followed Carroll Righter, as a fan and then eventually as a friend - this "Astrologer to the Stars" in the golden age of Hollywood. Carroll Righter was still alive during the reagan era - he died April 30, 1988. reagan was in office til January 1989.

In the early 80s, my friend gave me a reading with Carroll Righter as a birthday present. I went to his home in the Hollywood Hills and noticed immediately - the photo of him with ronnie and nancy back in the movie star phase of reagan's career. It was on prominent display in Righter's living room, on a table easily within view of where he had you sit, in front of his desk, while he read his chart for you. You couldn't miss it.

I remembered that later on when this scandal broke and I managed to get an interview with Carroll Righter about that. And I went back up to his house for my interview appointment - wherein I was seated in the same chair in front of his desk. And guess what? That photo was GONE. It had been removed. I glanced around the room when I first entered, just to check for it and it was nowhere to be found. CONSPICUOUSLY ABSENT.
