Virus Free: Ebola-Infected Nurse Nina Pham to Go Home

Source: NBC News

Nina Pham, the Dallas nurse infected with Ebola as she treated dying patient Thomas Eric Duncan, is free of the virus, National Institutes of Health officials said Friday.

Pham, who was diagnosed Oct. 12, was transferred to the NIH hospital outside Washington where there’s a special biocontainment unit. Her fellow nurse, Amber Vinson, tested virus-free earlier this week, her family said, but stayed in a special biocontainment unit at Emory University Hospital for a few more days of treatment. NIH officials were scheduled to give more details later Friday.

2. Nurse Pham

Did the right thing, self-isolated, immediately sought medical help after developing a low grade 99.5 degree fever and took the most NON-PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION route to arrive at the hospital.

Nurse Pham actions, not Vinson or Spencer, should be the STANDARD PROTOCOL for each and every healthcare worker exposed or working with an Ebola patient where a possible exposure has taken place.

Pham went above and beyond what was deemed "standard" and above and beyond is what is needed.

Kudos to her. Now, I hope that she can resume her life along with Bentley and this horrible ordeal can be put behind them.

would have been spared their ordeal, which I am guessing is going to be a problem for them in the future.

but the same stupidity about Ebola has the potential to follow these poor nurses. I can hear people demanding they be fired because they are going to give patients "the Ebola".

It appears that proper early care is the key to treating this viral disease.

Glad Ms. Pham is doing well. I hope she has a long, healthy and wonderful life. What a terrible ordeal for her to go through because the hospital administrators and Texas health officials could not bother to prepare for the disease as advised by the CDC back in the summer.

and help any other ebola patients that come up in the US. She did the right thing all the way through her ordeal - she is an awesome credit to nurses.
