Nicholas Winton honoured by Czechs for saving children from Nazis

Source: BBC

A British man who saved 669 children, most of them Jews, from the Nazis is to receive the Czech Republic's highest state honour.

Sir Nicholas Winton was 29 when he arranged trains to take the children out of occupied Czechoslovakia and for foster families to meet them in London.

I learned the story while I was visiting Prague. They reenacted the train trip that so many Czech Jewish kids took to flee, and Winton was aboard to be honored by the children -- now older adults, who had not seen each other since that terrible time. A beautiful tale. It's amazing that he's still alive.

There was a very good film about it called "All My Loved Ones". Very tragic, moving film.
