Poll: Optimism returning to Michigan, US

Source: WOOD TV8

Respondents are markedly more optimistic now than last August to the question: "Overall, would you say that things in the United States are generally headed in the right direction, or, have things pretty seriously gotten off on the wrong track?"

In August, only 14% said right track. In November 19%, but now 35% said. Conversely, the "wrong track" numbers are down from 75% in August to 55% now.

The same holds true in Michigan.

In August 31% said Michigan was headed in the right direction. In November 33% did, but in April 44% think things are headed up. The "wrong track" numbers dipped from 54% to 43%.

This wouldn't be true if not for Obama's courage with respect to the auto industry.

Thank you, Mr. President!

I am disappointed that it couldn't happen while Granholm was governor. She did a good job and got a lot of unjustified blame for the economy.

Rick Synder's campaign signs read "Hire Rick". He ran a good campaign and a lot of people fell for it. Oh and did I mention.... progressives stayed home & didn't vote. In my area which is very Republican there were only Republican campaign signs. To someone not very aware politically it looked like just the Republicans were running.

However, when I went around collecting signatures to get him recalled I was amazed at how many Democrats were in the area anxious to sign the petition.

in a big way. We would need to start advocating for some pretty freaky stuff to come close.

Meanwhile, we advocate for affordable health care, equal rights, fair taxation, and protecting the environment, water and air...how are we not at 99%?

We're hardly jubilant in Michigan.
