Hickenlooper declares victory; Beauprez refuses to concede in Colorado

Source: Denver Post

A bleary-eyed John Hickenlooper declared victory in the governor's race Wednesday morning after a long night and early morning waiting for the ballot count in a razor-thin contest against Republican Bob Beauprez.

"I think I can demonstrate that one with no sleep can still experience great joy," Hickenlooper said to open his speech in the Capitol's West Foyer.

He said he was grateful to have a second term and thanked his family.

"Teddy is here in spirit but his presence is in school," the affable governor joked about his 12-year-old son.

Hickenlooper has pissed a lot of dems and liberals off in this state. He allows fracking, he's made a state law that local jurisdictions have no say in where and when fracking can happen - all darlings of the republicans. I don't see that Hicky has done anything really egregious to earn the ire of the republicans. But he's a dem and that's all they need to vote for bobby beauprez. (I say his name like Bobby Beauchez's momma in The Waterboy).

And he also really pushed for gay marriage with that really heartfelt speech. The good christians probably have forgotten that.

Any remaining votes are going to favor him and there is no legitimate way for Bobby to win.
