'Boko Haram' kills 48 Nigerian fishermen near Chad

Source: BBC

Islamist militants from Nigeria's Boko Haram have reportedly killed 48 people in an attack on fish sellers near the border with Chad.

A fish traders' group said some victims had their throats slit whilst others were tied up and drowned in Lake Chad.

The attack took place on Thursday, but the news took several days to come to light because Boko Haram has destroyed mobile phone masts in the area.

In Thursday's attack, the traders were on their way to Chad to buy fish when militants blocked their path near the village of Doron Baga, some 180km (112 miles) north of Maiduguri in Borno state.

Baga is a town in the northeastern Nigerian state of Borno, close to Lake Chad, and lying northeast of the town of Kukawa. It is located within the Kukawa Local Government Area.

The town is approximately 196km from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.[1] The "Doron Baga" fish market, as of 2000, was located about six kilometres from the town.

Abdu: 'Nigerians skeptical about Baga killings probe'

The Nigerian government has ordered a probe into last week's clashes between the country's military and suspected Islamist insurgents Boko Haram that killed some 185 civilians.

The explanation is quite simple. There were reported activities of Boko Haram in this area. The military suspected some Boko Haram members were staying in a particular mosque. They gathered and tried to arrest the suspected Boko Haram members. Apparently they were attacked by some of those Boko Haram activists. When the military reinforced and came in to the village, apparently one of the soldiers was killed, and they held the entire community responsible for the killing and decided to massively deal with the community.

Residents told a delegation led by regional Governor Kashim Shettima that clashes started when troops surrounded a mosque allegedly sheltering insurgents.

But one resident told AFP that the battle began when the gunmen tried to burst into a viewing center, where locals watch football matches. The gunmen opened fire when one local began to run, prompting government troops to intervene.

Chadian troops have rescued some 85 people kidnapped by Boko Haram Islamists from fishing communities in Nigeria's remote northeast earlier this month, security and human rights sources say.

"We received communication from our Chadian counterparts of the interception of a convoy of buses carrying 85 Nigerians believed to have been kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists from Baga," a senior security official in the capital of Borno State, Maiduguri, told the news agency AFP on Saturday.

It sounds like religious cleansing, if you will. These folks apparently think it's their job to kill anyone who doesn't share their religious viewpoint.

espoused by the radicals but even some moderate and liberal Muslims find it a source of pride and thus the subconscious support for the atrocities.

Unless we bomb the radicals to smithereens and prove to them that Islam is not going to dominate anyone except their own women (until they wake up and rebel), this misogynistic and violent movement will continue.

about eighteen months ago.

I realized that these guys have been creating thousands of sockpuppets and spreading their message all over social media pretty much since the beginning of these platforms, entirely under the radar of the MSM and polite society.

The use of masses of sockpoppets creates the "Sybil effect" where there appears to be a lot more of them than there really are...but it eventually becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy as impressionable individuals jump on the bandwagon.

Is it the free ability to subjugate women and make them into chattel and slaves? Or maybe it's the freedom to murder and kill those that don't think the way you do in the name of Jihad?

Why is so much violence accepted as normal in these modern times?

Look at all the guerillas and freedom fighters of the 20th Century right up to now. Violent people will find any excuse for violence.
