Ben Carson Not Convinced on Global Warming
Source: BLOOMBERG
Ben Carson is a man of science. That doesn't necessarily mean that he believes in global warming.
"There's always going to be either cooling or warming going on," the potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate said in an interview this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. "As far as I'm concerned, that's irrelevant. What is relevant is that we have an obligation and a responsibility to protect our environment."
Carson, a retired Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon, often talks about his medical background and science during his speeches. Pressed on the fact that the bulk of the scientific community believes the Earth is indeed warming, Carson pivoted. "You can ask it several different ways, but my answer is going to be the same," he said. "We may be warming. We may be cooling."

I think this guy--
1- needs some brain surgery himself.
2- Would be an excellent republican presidential candidate. He is nuts.

He is talking to the Fox crowd, these kind of fuckers need to be hit over the head with the reality of science at every opportunity.....look at the idiocy that ensues.

I think the jury is still out and the science is uncertain.

(45,984 posts)Dear Dr. Carson:
Thank you for your interest in the position of President of the United States.
We are still looking a suitable match for the position, but we do not feel your views on climate science are compatible with the qualifications of the position that you seek.
Thanks again for you interest and good luck in the future.

(5,756 posts)I don't understand how such a person could have hidden his views about creationism and other subjects such as global warming for his entire career.
He must really be one of the most talented surgeons in the OR to have gotten as far as he did while still holding such retrograde views.

I will say, after removing a tooth he said I should have an implant. at... $3500 !!!. I told him I can't afford it. He said....I could put it on my credit card. Right, Dr. Ben. I can't afford something so just put it on my credit card... YUP ! He IS a very nice guy and I like him, but, as you can see. he just doesn't get it.
Problem is, he is very good.
Although I know a better dentist in Qingdao, China. :> )

(6,335 posts)He and his family were given every govt aid available. Medicare, food stamps, welfare, housing, affirmative action yet he is demonizing those "liberal entitlements that keep the black man down'...and that gave him a chance to become a neurosurgeon.

Why in hell does a neurosurgeon think he has a fucking clue about climate science? Somewhere around 95% of all meteorologists and climate scientists agree on the basic facts of climate change, that's an amazing degree of agreement among experts in their field. The two loudest opponents of climate change who claim to be "experts" are an economist and neurosurgeon, hardly anyone I'd expect to have a clue on the subject.

And there may be historical heating and cooling (over an eyelash of time, that we have lived through) BUT can humans live through it now, since we would seem to be making it even more extreme.
My number one item of how man is making things worse...and no Puker will ever convince me of anything different...all those thousands of aircraft, flying in the high altitudes, 24/7, spewing out super heat (and exhaust)...that will never make things any better.

(7,404 posts)In favor of "climate change"? That way if it cools, warms, more weather, less weather, whichever way, it can all be attributed to man made climate change.
I don't know or care who Carson is, but evidence shows we are in the midst of a warming trend so technically there is "global warming". Is his debate that it is not man made? In a century or two could our descendants see significant cooling? Sure I guess.

(5,751 posts)But only because the RW nutsacks kept saying: "it's 20 degrees outside and we just got dumped on by 3 feet of snow... WHAT global warming!???"
I always use GW just to hear their moran-ness. 😄
