9 Penn State trustees demand Freeh documents

Source: AP-Excite

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Nine Penn State trustees elected by alumni have demanded access to documents used to create the Freeh Report on the school's handling of child sex abuse complaints against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.

The group said the board has a responsibility to review the materials and verify the sources of criticisms in the 2012 report by former FBI director Louis Freeh.

The Associated Press obtained a letter the alumni-elected faction sent Wednesday to board Chairman Keith Masser asking for access to the supporting documents. They said the materials are the property of the board.

"Louis Freeh and his report greatly damaged the reputation of Penn State," trustee Albert Lord, who joined the board this year, said in a statement. "As fiduciaries of Penn State, we have both a legal as well as a moral obligation to ask questions about such an inherently incomplete work product."

All they do with this stuff is REMIND everyone of it.

IF they just had been normal about it from the beginning, shown remorse, taken responsibility and been contrite, and left it at that, it would be a distant memory now, frankly.

But, this NEVER ending tilting at the wind mill keeps it very much alive.

This element of PSU is VERY republican as the above post notes, the key players in this are almost all repubicans - Joe Paterno was, the pols who are making hay on it mostly are. The only key people in this who are Ds are Jay, his son, and Franco, who is a nice enough guy, but has gone mental over this.

But, the whole thing REEKS of republicanism - with Joe as Reagen, a god that has to be worshiped and they WILL NOT STOP until they totally recreate history.

He was a good man overall, who did a lot of good. But, we are all human, and he knew darn well what Sandusky was for a LONG time, decades, and let him use his access to the program and the programs facility as the key element in being the biggest serial pedephile we have known of publically.

But, somehow, he is a victim in this to these people.

it was the desire to "protect the reputation of Penn State" that made everyone turn a blind eye, and got them in this mess to begin with...

I would have thought years of allowing a child molester access to kids on campus damaged Penn's reputation...having a coach good old Joe who put his team before innocent kids ...even allowing Jerry to bring kids to away games...in my opinion many from that school should have been prosecuted. Of course these were mostly poor and/or minority kids...who's lives could never be as important as Penn football an all. I also suspect that other coaches knew too which is why Jerry received no job offers...but of course they kept the silence an our complicit an morally guilty as well.

Penn State is dead meat for years. The Penn State allowed a horrible scandal to occur and basically covered it up. It should discontinue football and make a point. It won't..but it could..
