Deal Settles Big Area of Uncertainty as It Continues Integration with US Airways

American Airlines Group Inc. said Friday that it had reached a joint collective-bargaining deal with the union representing 24,000 flight attendants, clearing up one big area of uncertainty as it continues its integration with US Airways.

The airline said it came to an agreement with the Association of Professional Flight Attendants on Thursday, under terms and conditions established five days earlier as part of an arbitration process.

The deal is effective immediately, with no ratification required, and wage increases go into effect Jan. 1, American Airlines said in a filing.
