Sony 'made a mistake'

Source: Washington Post

The first questions asked of President Obama involved the massive Sony hack, which the United States has tied to North Korea.

“In this interconnected digital world, there are going to be opportunities for hackers to engage in cyberassaults both in the private sector and the public,” he said. “Now, our first order of business is making sure that we do everything to harden sites and prevent these attacks from taking place.”

He said the country needs to work on improving its cyber-security laws, adding that he is sympathetic to Sony being hacked. Yet he said Sony “made a mistake” in opting to pull the movie. He also said he wished Sony had spoken with him before canceling the release of “The Interview.”

And Homeland Security 'for profits' will earn billions more in our Federal money.

We better have in public exactly who sent that one line 'threat', and took those emails.

But even before the cancellation of the film, Sony executives responsible for the international release of the movie were concerned the action-comedy featuring Hollywood stars Seth Rogen and James Franco would not translate to a foreign audience, the leaked e-mails show.

Our cyber-security laws are outdated. We don't have many laws in the way of regulating HOW we secure certain networks. With all the hacks that have affected businesses AND consumers as of late (Home Depot, Target, Sony), we need new laws pertaining to cyber-security.

Laws aren't just "rules" for citizens to follow, laws also regulate the way things are done.
