Lawyers in Prince Andrew underage sex case file defamation suit against Alan Dershowitz

Two lawyers representing a woman who claims to have had sex while a minor with prominent US criminal defence lawyer Alan Dershowitz filed a defamation lawsuit against him on Tuesday.

Former federal judge Paul Cassell and Florida plaintiffs attorney Bradley Edwards filed the lawsuit in a Florida circuit court, accusing Dershowitz of initiating a public media assault on their reputation and character, according to court documents.

In a filing in Florida federal court last week, Cassell and Edwards said their client, identified as Jane Doe ž3, was forced as a minor by financier Jeffrey Epstein to have sex with several people, including Dershowitz and Prince Andrew.

Dershowitz on Monday filed a sworn statement in Florida federal court denying he had sex with an underage girl on Epstein’s private plane and island. Buckingham Palace has also denied the allegations against Prince Andrew.

but not in the way we expect.

Whenever you see a big story in the news think about the desired outcome. The MSM is not our friend.

Is the endgame going to be taking down powerful people and unraveling Epstein's network...or discrediting abuse victims?

I don't know the answer, we'll see how this plays out, but don't take it at face value.

They covered up the Jimmy Savile abuse for 50 years. He was one of the most prolific abusers in recent history, right there in plain sight at the heart of the Establishment. Discrediting abuse victims is very much in their interest.

The Harvard law professor and esteemed criminal defence attorney who later advised Epstein on how to respond to the FBI’s investigation is accused in the court motion of having sexual relations with the woman when she was a minor and of witnessing the abuse of other minors.

On Thursday he told the Guardian: “There is no more strenuous denial than the one I am giving. I never met her. I don’t know her. I have never had sex with an underage person.”

He added: “This person has made this up out of cloth, maliciously and knowingly in order to extort money from Mr Epstein.”

Dershowitz, who has occasionally written op-ed articles for the Guardian, said he could not comment on the woman’s allegations against Prince Andrew or any other men, but he said her claims against him were demonstrably false and challenged her to file criminal charges against him.

Is the woman suing anyone who isn't famous?

I'm in the "wait and see" section, here.

and throw them in the East River. Sure, it's a bit Quintus Tullius Cicero, but it would be fun to watch.

Besides being extraordinarily lenient (18 months, only 13 of which he served), that is totally ass-backward from a usual plea deal.

Isn't any leniency supposed to be contingent on giving up bigger fish?

In Epstein's case, it sounds like someone at the FBI was doing their job, and a prosecutor and the judge who signed off on the deal covered the asses of the powerful, and deserved to be disbarred at least as much as McCulloch in the Darren Wilson case.

Story on immunity for powerful friends.

This also sounds like a honey pot operation used to control powerful people that would lose all its value if Epstein named names.

You can't blackmail someone with a skeleton in their closet if it's already on the front page.
