Matt Taibbi ponders whether Obama’s embrace of populist rhetoric is already impacting Wall Street

“Countdown” contributor Matt Taibbi discusses the impact of populist enthusiasm and President Obama’s adoption of the 99 percent message in terms of a breaking news story about a possible settlement in the ongoing investigation of allegations that some of the largest American banks engaged in foreclosure fraud. Taibbi says the settlement being discussed would leave major banks exposed to criminal investigations. Taibbi speculates as to the potential repercussions of the ruling, saying, “If they do this for real, if they do this like a real, Enron-style investigation, you know, you could have half the luminaries on Wall Street doing prison time.”http://current.com/shows/countdown/videos/matt-taibbi-ponders-whether-obamas-embrace-of-populist-rhetoric-is-already-impacting-wall-street

When I mention this title to mossbacked paleoconservatives, they get kind of quiet, and allow how they been wonderin' the same thing. And my Depression-raised relatives are quite taken with the term "bankster".

Fox and the Koch's are telling them to distract the country from the real issues, and continue to pump false info into them.

It's amazing, it's like there is an independently operated North Korea or China being built in our country via the convervative drones.

At some point they are going to slide their belief in God over to worshipping them as a diety. They'll convince them they are Gods messengers since God made them wealthy and better than the others, and they should start workshipping them as their God. Some already do, and many of the rest will follow.

instead of pulling his punches. If he schmoozes with the 1% ostentatiously, or starts backtracking/triangulating, his support may (again) deflate at a very inopportune time.

The issue has widespread bipartisan support, unlike many issues he has to work with.

The crime was clear, obvious, massive, and convictions would be slamdunk easy if corruption weren't involved.

The country would be trillions of dollars richer and more productive, thereby helping us solve all our OTHER problems.

The Tea Party would have been sidelined much sooner.
