Let's freak out about boobs: A look at the newish brelfie (breastfeeding selfie) trend {al.com}

It's completely legal to whip out your boob and feed your baby in any public place - restaurants, stores, parks - but it's taking the public longer to be comfortable with it. Some moms like to use covers, some don't. Some try to minimize the amount of skin they're exposing and some don't worry about it.

All of that is OK.

So while I probably wouldn't post a brelfie, I'm glad mothers are posting them. Being a mom is hard enough without having to go hide somewhere (another room, your car, under a blanket) every time you have to feed your child - which, if you've ever had or been around a baby, you'll know is all the dang time.

And as much as people love taking photos of themselves and taking photos of what they eat, you had to expect brelfies wouldn't be far behind.

Maybe brelfies will normalize breastfeeding. Maybe they won't. I hope they do.

There is not much that can top the moments spent with your children breastfeeding. Although I am about 25 years past those times I can remember the feeling of closeness and the quiet relating that went on. These photos just make me happy.

I always carried a blanket. I still got looks and an occasional comment about how dare I but they could not see anything so screw them I thought. I don't think covering up is a horrible thing to do, breastfeeding never really felt like a public thing to me, too many gawkers for the wrong reasons would have spoiled the moments. I hope this changes the absolute need to cover though, it would be so much healthier for society to be able to accept that women's breasts were actually made for real babies first and foremost.

I so hope acceptance is reached. I swear, I almost can feel my milk come in this many years later, lol!

I was asked to go to the restroom to feed my child in a restaurant ! I asked the manager if he would eat in the restroom, and told him quite loudly that if any of the patrons had a problem with it even though I covered up with a blanket, then it was a product of their sick minds to sexualize it! I didn't stop or leave and the manager backed off.

From self absorbed new moms. Who cares if they breast feed or not and why. Just more "look at me!" They shoulda outgrown that by 10th grade.

So, your take is that the breast feeding Mom is the bad guy here? I have seen lots of Moms breast feed, I have yet to see one being an attention whore about it.

On the list of things in the world to get upset over, brelfies fall in at about 47,386,995,023rd.

It's okay...
