...you don't have to condemn a meaningful and effective move to create habitat that will benefit not only pollinators, but bird species that use them for food. A very affordable demonstration of what we can do on a much large scale.

... The lack of habitat is not what's killing honeybees, and the monarch corridor is a red herring, too. Neonicotinoid pesticides have been proven to be what's decimating bees, butterflies, and other less newsworthy insects that are no less critical to the ecosystems in which they live. That's why the EU and many other countries have banned their use. Nothing in either of these White House proposals will make any measurable difference to bees or butterflies.

If Obama really wanted to prevent the disastrous extinction of honeybees, He'd be after Monsanto, et al, with the hounds of Hell to ban the use of neonics. But instead, he's helping the most evil legal entities in the history of humanity to establish a global corporatocracy that will be unassailable in ANY court of law.

Sooner or later, you're going to have to come to terms with the fact that Obama's just another self-serving politician. Don't feel bad; he had me fooled for a while, too, and I'm old enough to know better than to get sucked in. But I did.

While pesticides are most probably one factor, habitat is also a vital factor in the decline of many pollinators as well as the insect populations upon which nesting birds depend for feeding their young. And native plant habitat will not be sprayed with insecticides, providing a safe zone for feeding and breeding.
