"Economic victims didn't elect Trump. The well-off and segregated did"

resentment, racism and lack of fact based critical thinking elected Trump... Hillary did not screw up... pervasive hate, systematic racism/sexism and absence of fact based reality created this scenario

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/us-election/the-average-trump-supporter-is-not-an-economic-loser/article32746323/

Americans who voted for Mr. Trump appear to have higher incomes than average. One analysis earlier this year found that Trump voters have a median household income of $72,000 (U.S.), more than the $62,000 average U.S. household income and more than Clinton voters earn. Even among his low-education white voters, only 14 per cent earn less than $50,000 a year, according to one survey.
they have higher-than-average incomes and found that they are “no more likely to be unemployed or exposed to competition through trade or immigration” than average Americans or Clinton backers.

In fact, places that have been strongly affected by trade or immigration do not find much Trump support.

But the study did find that Trump supporters are overwhelmingly found in places with high levels of segregation (where white voters have little day-to-day exposure to minorities or immigrants) and with high levels of dependency on social security and other government income sources.

It could be that Mr. Trump’s generally comfortable white voters are driven by resentment of less prosperous neighbours they see receiving government assistance (and thus raising taxes). “These are relatively well-off, less-educated blue collar workers who see poorer blue-collar whites who are suffering,” Washington-based political writer Dylan Matthews concluded, “and view them as undeserving recipients of government aid. That’s less a story about personal anxiety and more one about class politics.”

Those that I know that voted for him are solid middle to upper middle class. They have never experienced real hardship. They have no empathy. For example, if Roe v Wade is overturned it won't effect them because they have the money to travel.

Most of my family are middle class to upper middle class with two in the extremely rich (millionaires) category. All, except my sister and her husband are college educated, many with advanced degrees in medicine, veterinary medicine and business. They are all Christian Republicans.

They are the worst kind of hypocrites.

They think those in need are all stupid, lazy people who make poor choices and deserve to live in poverty without any health care, sick leave, good schools for their kids or any hope of retirement.

I'm dreading Thanksgiving. I hope that NO ONE discusses politics. Neither of them went to college and they totally believe everything that Fox News and hate radio tells them.

I'm facing the imminent loss of my marketplace health insurance. I am a single mom who is SOL.
If I get a terrible disease, I hope I die quickly since I won't be able to afford any medical care. (I lost all of my savings during the recession.)

I say fuck you to every single racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Fay, xenophobic bigot who voted for the fascist.

I just hope to keep everything civil and polite and totally steer clear of politics. I get along pretty well with my family as long as politics are never discussed. Unfortunately, due to the forest fires in the Southeast, escaping from the house to the outdoors will not be a good option.

I hope you have a nice Thanksgiving. I plan to enjoy eating holiday food and watching SEC football and movies with my son and my mom.

and then scream and cry about how "poor people are stealing tax dollars", which should be going to deserving right wing pigs like the bundys.

None of them had jobs, they all had disability checks, used government owned land without paying for it, got small business loans from the government, etc. Then they pissed and moaned about the "moochers'' that were "stealing" "their" hard earned tax dollars.

dRumpf and his daddy made all their money by getting government distributed tax money to build housing projects. Naturally, dRumpf doesn't pay taxes.

works for the Federal Gov't... over the years she has confirmed that MANY gov't employees hate the gov't even with the good pay and benefits... I guess they think they deserve more

and yes, you are correct... the beauty of "privatization" is that the business can get paid by the gov't *without all the restrictions that help to protect everyday people

But less loveable.

My point wasn't to bad mouth Federal (state local) gov employees, even the dumb right wing ones. The bundys gang are private citizens who know how and where to line up to get taxpayer-sponsored largesse. Naturally, they scream and cry about the "other'' people, who are unconscionable "moochers and freeloaders".

I have a lot of those types in your OP headline around here looking smug and arrogant. I expected them, along with the legion of lower middle class hateful, racist whites, soon to be the cadre of brownshirts, the well off the officers and leaders, to vote against HRC because they want among many things to have this country majority white again for their peace of mind and safety. Too many brown people has scared the shit out of the white person who wants numerical supremacy.

We, as a people prefer to look down our noses at people less fortunate. Social programs are cursed until they need one. Like Craig T Nelson (the actor who played "Coach&quot said, "My mother had to get welfare and food stamps to raise her kids and we never asked the government for anything"

I do believe this is why Trump, or any. republican, can win an election. But, I guess we will be seeing the full brunt of eliminating all of these programs in the all too near future.
Our sense of history does not exist.
