U.S. Senator reveals calls to the U.S. Capital switchboard have SHATTERED the previous record
Daily Kos

Never in the history of this country have more people contacted their elected representatives than they have this week.
"The last three days have been the BUSIEST DAYS IN CAPITAL SWITCHBOARD HISTORY...By almost double..This is working..Keep it up and please RT." (Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii)
And yet, Republicans stand at 50 votes for Betty DeVoss, with Mike Pence as the breaking vote to shove her through on Monday when the Republicans return from their relaxing weekend with big money donors in Palm Beach.
While phones ring off the hook, Republicans have locked up all their offices nationwide and gone off to golf, eat steak, and drink high end cocktails with the only people that matter to them --
Jefferson, Grant and Franklin.
Nevertheless, we have to keep at it.
Don't get discouraged they are trying to ignore us, literally locking us out of their offices.
Don't give up, it is time to double down.
We aren't going anywhere.
This should only make us feel more emboldened.
We are the majority, we have the power and it is high time we start acting like it.
Take the way we feel this week and do something every week until our long national nightmare ends.
Personally, I'm ready to start registering voters, door-knocking, fund raising and phone-banking for 2018 right now.
I hope you are too.
That's how we win in the end.
GREAT JOB, RESISTANCE

Making phone calls to your 2 senators and also to your congressperson, regardless of their party affiliation, is extremely important, especially now, since Trump's nomination of Betsy DeVos only needs one more US senator to ensure that she won't be confirmed as Education Secretary.

(16,993 posts)and e-mail them. I just wish he wasn't such a little weasel. There is no way he would ever vote against DeVos. Florida has some of the lowest funding in the nation for K-12 education. They don't care because the emphasis is on tourism which uses lots of low-education, low-skilled workers. It's pathetic.

"Marco Rubio's compelling family story embellishes facts, documents show"
"Rubio frequently repeated a compelling version of his family's history that had special resonance in South Florida...He was the 'son of exiles' he told audiences, Cuban Americans forced off their island after a 'thug,' Fidel Castro, took power.
But a review of documents..show that Rubio's parents came to the United States & were admitted for permanent residence more than two-and-a-half years before Castro's forces overthrew the Cuban government and took power on New Year's Day, 1959."

(118 posts)Just call the Capitol Switchboard after hours, punch in your zip code and indicate which Senator you want to leave a message for. Next thing you know, you hear your senator's voice encouraging you to leave a message. I asked Cory Gardner to please not vote to confirm Betsy DeVos. Took less than 1 minute! Do it!! Peace, hannah
