SPLC: Another Wave of Bomb Threats Hit Jewish Institutions, Worrying and Uniting Communities
February 28, 2017
The Levite Jewish Community Center experience is just one of 31 such threats that occurred on Monday, February 27 and more than 100 since January 4. No bombs have been found.
This last wave of threats hit not only community centers but Jewish day schools as well. Multiple students at David Posnack Jewish Day School in Davies, Florida, which received a bomb threat at 9:20 am yesterday, expressed fear. Parents did as well, including Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz whose own children once attended the school. One grandparent, a holocaust victim, cried when he heard the news.

These threats add to the charged atmosphere in the United States which has seen a rise in hate incidents, including a number of anti-Semitic acts and vandalism at two Jewish cemeteries.

(53,951 posts)I know there are those who think democrats are behind it (the "president" and his resident conspiracy assholes) and some who think the Jews are behind it ("sounds like a fundraiser for the ADL" (yes, that is a real comment from a self-professed progressive)). In reality, I am sure some are pranks, but I have a nagging feeling it may be something more of a long game. Get people were there are so complacent, they don't evacuate, and then BOOM. A perfect set-up to "blame the victims" because they didn't "follow protocol". Sure, the horror of the crime will be a focus, but I guaran-godamned-tee there will be those who will blame the administrators, parents, etc (even the Jewish community) for the act of violence against us.
