Congress Passes Law to Drug-Test More Unemployment Recipients

And we thought things couldn't get scarier.

The Senate late yesterday joined the House in passing a bill striking down an Obama administration law on drug-testing recipients of unemployment benefits. States will now have much wider authority to mandate these arbitrary tests. It may go to Trump's desk for his signature within days.

Here's the story.

The vast majority of employers require pre employment drug testing.

Since the purpose of unemployment is to provide a level of income while people have left the workforce looking for new employment, doesn't not be able to pass a drug test prevent them from being re employed?

Maybe if your unemployed and looking for work, you need to put the weed down until you find something. It was never intended to provide paid vacation.

FYI, I was downsized in 2009 and off for nearly a year. I was desperate to find a new job. Being 50 yrs old and uncertain about my future made it a scary year.
