What do we do if Trump really is crazy?

What do we do if Trump really is crazy?
Washington Post, Dana Milbank, 7/28/17

Maybe I’m doing this all wrong.

For five years, I’ve been identifying Donald Trump, now president of the United States, as a nutter. I’ve called him crazy, daft, a madman, barking mad and mad as a March hare, and I’ve “diagnosed” him — I’m not a mental-health professional and have never examined the president — with narcissistic personality disorder and more. To that list, I feel compelled to add a few more technical observations: He also seems off his rocker, ’round the bend and a few fries short of a Happy Meal.

The belief that the commander in chief is barmy has become commonplace. Just this week two prominent senators, Jack Reed (D-R.I.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), were caught on a hot mic discussing Trump.

...

It all brings to mind one more piece of advice I found online for dealing with people with serious mental-health issues: It may be necessary to lower your expectations.

Some, at least. He'd have to be so crazy that he threatens their tax breaks for the rich and their chances at reelection. I think they're starting to realize that this may be the case.

Trump's sanity is immaterial as he is both unfit to be POTUS and every day he spends as POTUS does real damage to the Union. If someone is not against him now, finding out he is not sane will have little effect on their opinions. I can hear them now....

"Government is so screwed up, we need a little insanity to deal with them!"

"We have known he is crazy, that is why we voted for him to mess up Washington!"

"If he was not crazy already, dealing with the politicians made him that way!"

and on and on and on.

I see a lot of posts that seem to question what happens IF with Trump. If him being elected POTUS was not the worst thing that could have happened this election for you, this might be the wrong forum for you Now, if you are here and that is the case, please do not leave. Read more posts and actually pay attention to them and realize the damage he is doing while being considered "sane". Many many people are being hurt in very real ways because of what we allowed by him being elected.

It's not like you can put him in a straight jacket or something. He and congress have all the cards with the SC waiting in the background if petitioned.

The problem is is that mental health isn't specifically mentioned in the constitution and there is no precedent for removing him from office "if he can't perform his duties". I think it's too subjective an issue.

One difficulty is that he thrives on chaos - the worse the people around him behave, the 'better' he can appear.
If he could be got rid of, the other ferrets would remain; the worst thing in the world is that a majority of Republicans still approve, at times wildly, with him.

Malignant, he is, and the closer the barbs come to his heart (or whatever is there), the worse his behaviour will become; if 299 million people despise him, he won't really care. Getting him out of his position might be a bit difficult.

But the greater illness belongs to a nation that continues to pretend the sandcastle is real.

Trump's reality, whatever it is, should never have been allowed to become America's reality.

There are mechanisms already in place for dealing with Trump - that there is any debate over using those remedies says more about the sad state of affairs that is our government than it does about the sand lord.

I hope Mueller's investigation brings Trump down - but it will need to bring the entire administration down. Along with voiding Trump's every action and deed.

No point in getting rid of a madman if the decisions of a madman are allowed to stand.

We will still suffer the effects otherwise.
