Stephen Colbert and 'Saturday Night Live's' mockery only makes Trump stronger.Lakoff promoted it.

'It is widely acknowledged that no American leader has ever done more for the nation’s comedians than Donald Trump. As a businessman, he made a habit of running companies into the ground. As president, he has spawned a boom in the satire industry.

What is less acknowledged — indeed, often completely ignored — is the insidious manner in which comedians, and comedy, have served Trump.

I mean this as no knock on the talents of our humorists, or the pleasures they provide. Our predicament is this: Previous occupants of the Oval Office courted gravitas; the current one thrives on mockery.

It is hard to imagine any other president, for instance, taking to Twitter, as Trump did during the polar vortex, to ask, “What the hell is going on with Global Warming? Please come back fast, we need you!” With one jibe, our president reduced the discourse around climate change from a scientifically verified threat to a brainless joke.'>>>

Whether or not people make fun of him won’t change anything.

Completely ignorant of todays current political climate. The more this man is held up to ridicule, the less people are willing to support him. No one wants to be associated with ridiculous leaders. I'll admit that his ignorant base might dig in deeper. But to believe people are going to flock to this asshole because he's getting the ridicule he so richly deserves is one of the most ridiculous theses I've ever encountered.

He's a dangerous one, but he is still a joke, and mocking him is a very effective way to undermine the potency of the danger he can unleash.

The Baby Trump balloon is a vivid example of effective mockery of this juvenile spoiled brat.

8. Definitely both. I should have added (just) to the quote in my post title.

I think it would've captured the sentiment better.

"Citizens must be courageous enough to confront our predicament, not (just) laugh at it."

at Cons.

He got a call from the GOP National Committee and he couldn't help but crack up. He just laughs at them, and then just hung up.
