you're a parent of a child in public school and you file an objection to prayers or compelled Bible study in the classroom. You practically have to enroll in the Witness Protection Program. You are bane. You are like an expelled Pilgrim in Massachusetts.

Is there an objectionable form of discrimination that the South does NOT embrace? It seems everything from racism to misogyny to antisemitism is alive and well in many parts of the South. I wonder why they are so susceptible to it?

Reminds me of a cult in many ways - the way these women were isolated and controlled, very sad.

McNeil is still anti-abortion. She says probably nine out of 10 white women she knows who voted for Trump in 2016 backed him only because of his stance on abortion, looking past his distasteful traits because the issue is “ a human rights issue” to them. “If you believe that is a person, then you have to protect that person,” she says.

Do anti-choice voters believe Trump really cares about abortion? “Oh, no,” McNeill says, laughing. “They thought he was more likely to appoint judges who would address that issue. Almost every single person says, ‘I will hold my nose. He’s in there four to eight years, but those judges are for life’.”

to remember the judge appointments and supreme court...

Did they listen? Nope. Even these backwoods yokels get it while too many of our own voters don't

at 911 centers and listen to all the beaten pregnant woman I had to listen to. More women will die, your lovers don't want to support these children for 18 plus years, but they do want to own your reproductive choice. They want you to bat for their team. If they decide to marry you, you will always be a second class citizen.

If these women get roe overturned, more women will die. However, some lame white guy got laid.
Women need to worry about women's safety first. A pretty little newborn baby is not safe under these conditions. Don't worship the infant, worship a safe functional household.

Thinking mostly Alabama, Louisiana as well. Maybe not so much FL, TN, VA or NC/SC, but I'm guessing.

I grew up in an evangelical home and it was like that with the church ladies back then. I have to say things have changed a little for the better in regards to race, my parents church integrated about 25 years ago. Back in the 60's and 70s they hated all "hippies" and anti-war bums and wanted them thrown out of the country. I heard a sermon a month ago about God not putting leaders here to lie to us and those that lie and abuse their fellow men because of their beliefs are not to be followed even though they use the name of the Lord (in vain). I was shocked! I never listen to the religious shows but I turned on MTP early and wasn't feeling good so I didn't sit up to get the remote.

FL is more purple than red these days and Duval actually went Democratic in the mid-terms. If not for Scotts' rat fucking with hiding 42 boxes of ballots until after the deadline, and getting a stacked court to disallow them, we'd have a Dem Senator and probably a Democratic governor as well.

I think it will take a national change, like requiring paper receipts and a count of any election within 1% and actually letting felons vote after they have served their time and election day being a holiday. Oh yeah, the exact match for signatures is a total albatross as well and musts be eliminated. People's signatures change as they age, it is a total fact of life. With these changes, FL would definitely be blue, and probably other states as well.

because she said the Southern women who ran the institutions and answered the phones would listen to a man even when he was dead wrong.

I grew up in Kentucky and the racism and misogamy was just everywhere. But for some reason, I knew It was wrong, very wrong. As a 10 year old kid, I heard my parents make racist and sexist remarks and I would cringe. I could never understand their hatred.

It's interesting to note the only one who died at the Charlottesville Nazi march was a white woman.

I admire anyone who can come out of any sort of political or religious brainwashing. I feel once you start allowing yourself to venture out of false belief systems, it’s a never ending journey. It also makes me angry at what some people will do in order to manipulate others into supporting them. It’s not so much about ideology with the likes of Lee Atwater and the entire Republican Party as their willingness to sacrifice what is good and right own for their own self-interest I also know so many otherwise centrist women who would vote for satan himself if he threw them a bone on just 1 issue: abortion.

It is unfortunate that the right has made "socialism" a target to keep people in their base when what the Democratic party wants is not socialism but a social-democratic government which supports fully capitalism, but also puts reigns into it to avoid what we are living today, which is inequality and high corruption.

Democrats need to teach people that they are not supporting the so called "socialism" that has been invented by the repubs in order to scare people, they need to explain in detail that social-democratic governments work for the people, which is what the people want, a government that works for them, we pay taxes so that government can use them of the betterment of the country and its people, not for the 1% to suck it up.
