Fox News, GOP media now warn of bloodshed if Democrats win in 2020

That's one way to try halt public debate in this country: by threatening mass violence and a bloody people's revolt in the streets. That's what conservative media voices, including those on Fox News, have done in recent days. Specifically, the reckless rhetoric has revolved around proposed new gun laws in the wake of America's latest string of mass shootings. Those are laws that would likely only be enacted if Democrats won the Senate and the White House in 2020.

If you take “people’s guns away from them, there’s going to be a lot of violence," The View’s Meghan McCain announced. "What you are calling for is civil war,” warned Fox News' Tucker Carlson. “What you are calling for is an incitement to violence." And that was just a sampling of the right-wing media hysteria last week.

These kinds of alerts about looming political violence if the opposition party wins power and passes laws in a democratic fashion represent the worst type of far-right insurrectionism. It's an ominous and long-held belief among conservatives and conservative media outlets that citizens need to be fully armed in order to one day wage war on the American government, as a kind of second American civil war. In other words, the reason the Second Amendment exists is not for self-defense, or to protect the rights of hunters and gun enthusiasts, but to enable citizens to go to war with the U.S. government, and to fend off a “tyrannical” turn at home.

"The core philosophy of the Three Percenter movement, whose adherents have engaged in violence, is that citizens would be justified in taking up arms to violently overthrow the government if the government enacted stronger gun regulations," Media Matters recently noted.

Granted, Trump has ramped up the level of crazy since he was elected. However, I believe that the majority of the people who say such stuff are too lazy to get off their asses and go to war for real.

Sure, there are a bunch of militia idiots out there who would be more than happy to saddle up. I just don't see even Trump's supporters being able to field an army of any sort.

ON EDIT: All that said, I have no doubt Trump will inspire some sort of mass violence as he is forced out of the White House when he loses.

2. NRA lobbies the public to buy more guns and weapons including military weapons.
3. Trump holds rallies for his adoring minions.
4. FOX News and Trump Media not only imply but explicitly threaten violence if he isn't allowed to be re-elected.
5. The violence is now possible by militias and disgruntled/disenfranchised MAGAts.

The guns were never meant for hunting or home protection. They are for insurrection to ensure that democracy dies by the hands of American citizens.

The encouraging factor is that they will fail. Unless Trump orders the military to stand down and let them riot.

Sarah Palin’s PAC Puts Gun Sights On Democrats She’s Targeting In 2010

Sarah Palin is targeting — yes, with gun sights — House Democrats facing tough reelection fights who voted for health care reform.

Palin’s Facebook page now carries a map featuring 20 gun sights, one for each of the Democrats targeted this year by her political action committee SarahPAC. Three of the gun sights, those where incumbent Democrats have already announced their retirement, are colored red.

Likewise, Palin’s rhetoric is decidedly militant. “We’ll aim for these races and many others,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “This is just the first salvo in a fight to elect people across the nation who will bring common sense to Washington.
