Republicans, the Time Has Come
To the Republican members of the United States Senate:
You have always told us that you believe in the distinctive greatness of the United States of America. America is different, as Senator Marco Rubio has said. Ben Sasse likes to say that America is an idea a commitment to universal dignity over brute power.
You have also told us that you went into politics to serve a higher purpose. Well, your moment has arrived.
The president of the United States is betraying his oath of office in the most fundamental way, by using the presidency for personal gain at the countrys expense. He has corrupted our foreign policy with grubby attempts to help himself that his own White House staff immediately recognized as improper. He is telling the world that America does not, in fact, stand for any higher ideal. Can you for a moment imagine the icons of your party, like Ronald Reagan or Dwight Eisenhower, risking the security of a country threatened by Russia, for the sake of smearing a political rival?
President Trump must go, and you only you have the power to make it happen.

..to bite the hand that feeds it! Understand that republican senators don't care about Trump, they care about themselves and their power. No TRump, no power, so they suck the teat that may keep them in power. Its the ONLY hope they have! Yes, they are selling out our country for their personal greed, but if they don't they are nothing. There is not one republican who can win the presidency, not one!
They know it, ergo no primaries. Everything is on Trump, so they lie thru their teeth on television, then lie about the lie the next day on a photo op (ie Leningrad Lindsey Graham, one of the largest American traitors of all time).
When the so-called Christians of the religious right realize they have been worshipping Satan, it will be too late. They sold their souls to the devil for a few federal judges. No mercy, they did it knowing full well it was wrong, but since they had no hope of retaining power without Trump, they drank the Kool-Aid. Now, the reality is coming home to roost.....express lane to hell!

(397 posts)Secret talks with Iran, where Iran was persuaded to hold American hostages in Tehran longer than they had intended to embarrass the Carter administration. As well as hurting Carter in the upcoming election, it was to boost Reagans popularity that they were released to him.
I believe the guy who led the meetings with Iran - held in secrecy in Europe - was George Bush Sr.
From that came the Iran-Contra scandal.
