WaPO - President Pelosi, It Could Happeen

https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/09/30/president-pelosi-it-could-happen/

What happens when a Democratic speaker of the House — third in line to the presidency, according to the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 — is suddenly thrust into the Oval Office, succeeding a Republican president and vice president who resign, embroiled in scandal?

Such a scenario is attracting attention — #PresidentPelosi was trending on social media after last week’s announcement of an impeachment inquiry — even though it may seem far-fetched that President Trump and Vice President Pence would be forced from office over abuse of power related to the administration’s dealings with Ukraine or other misdeeds.

But no way in hell the Republicans will let that happen. If The Orange One has to go, then they will install Pence and find some poor schmuck to become VP. Granted they will need to find someone who can be confirmed by both houses of Congress, but they will never allow Speaker Pelosi to become President Pelosi, if they can help it.

Pence would announce a VP. Unless it took so long to confirm that VP that Pence is ALSO impeached in the interim...that's the only way it could happen.

Far as I can see. And I've had this fantasy since day 1 of this pathetic admin.

might be - how the hell will he find anyone to fill the VP spot who would actually accept the job? And would that person be able to be confirmed by both houses of Congress?

OK - just answered my own question. Liz Chaney. Or Mitt Romney. Anybody else who wants to run in 2020 who has an ego big enough to think that they might be able to rein in this lunacy.

He cannot take the oath of office without lying.

He crapped on the Constitution so how can he protect and defend?

He pardons nobody.

I have been saying Pres. Pelosi for weeks. She makes Hillary her VP and then returns to the house leaving,

Pres. Hillary Clinton

Neat how that works!

6. Silly idea. Pelosi has been a Democratic treasure right where she is. Way too much baggage to win

a national election even if she wanted to. Which I doubt is anywhere near her dream job.

9. She probably wouldn't care to stay there, but would be needed to start the cleanup.

She is next line after Penis and Agent Orange are impeached. We would have to follow the Constitution.

10. He's already teased throwing Pence under the bus: "Mike Pence called Ukraine too, it was 'perfect'"

I don't know if that was a signal that he's prepared to take the ship down with him, or just an attempt to obfuscate with the old "everybody is doing it, it's normal" trope.

How is it that Dump is so demonstrably unintelligent and ill-informed, yet manages to get away with so much corruption? I know there are natural-born con-men and billshitters, people who can read others and exploit them even though they may not be what we'd think of as "educated". But even people who fit that description eventually have to answer for actual crimes. It just doesn't make sense that this could go on for so long without having real repercussions.
