REMARKS
Remarks by President Trump in a Meeting with Recovered COVID-19 Patients
HEALTHCARE
Issued on: April 14, 2020
Cabinet Room
12:02 P.M. EDT
THE PRESIDENT: Well, thank you very much, everybody. This is a group of people who, in many cases, became quite famous because they went through a lot having to do with the coronavirus. A tremendous amount. And a lot of them were covered, and we know them from the media. Theyve all got very interesting and very different stories to tell.
And I thought what Id do is Id go around the room. Its an honor to have them at the White House. And they really are theyre very brave. Some were right at the edge; they thought it was over. This is a rough a rough plague. I call it the plague. I call it the scourge. I call it whatever you want to call it. Its rough. Its bad.
{snip}
So, if we could, well go around the room. And if we could start with you, Representative. And congratulations. Its an incredible story. Thank you.
STATE REPRESENTATIVE WHITSETT: Thank you, Mr. President, and thank you, Mr. Vice President. Its such an honor to be here, and its such an honor to be here amongst all of you survivors.
I just cant say how wonderful it is to see your face. And thank you for everything that you have done.
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you.
STATE REPRESENTATIVE WHITSETT: I did not know that saying thank you had a political line. I didnt know that.
THE PRESIDENT: Yeah.
STATE REPRESENTATIVE WHITSETT: I thought just saying thank you meant thank you. And I do. I sincerely appreciate that, because had you not brought this to the forefront of the HQ of being able to put this out here, I wouldnt be here today to even have this conversation with you and to be able to talk about the needs of Detroit and talk about the people who really need this. And they need help.
THE PRESIDENT: Right.
STATE REPRESENTATIVE WHITSETT: And youre here to address that. And I sincerely appreciate that from the both of you, from the bottom of my heart, and from the people of my city.
{snip}
Well, I want to thank you all. Jeff, could I ask you a question? Youre a great reporter and a nice man. Look at you with that mask. Thats good. You look very good. You actually look much better, I think. (Laughter.)
Q (Inaudible.)
THE PRESIDENT: But what do I know? Am I allowed to take Karen over to see the White House doctors, see if we can help her out a little bit with Lyme disease? Because Lyme disease is a problem and there are some answers. What do you think? Are you guys going to report me for being a horrible human being? For doing something illegal? Did I do something illegal?
Q We cant advise you on that, sir.
THE PRESIDENT: And then impeach me. Then youll impeach me because I tried to help her out with her Lyme disease. Do you think maybe? Because Id like to do that. What do you think? Should I do it?
Q I cant advise you on that, sir. But I I certainly hope that she
THE PRESIDENT: See, they never like to take chances, but I do. So, well take a chance on it. Okay?
Thank you very much. Were going to have a news conference a little bit later. Were going to announce the groups of people that are going to be talking to us.
Weve made a lot progress today. You see whats happening with our bump. Our big bump in the road. And our big bump is a lot less than a lot of people thought it would be because of the American people. Theyve been incredible.
So, I just want to thank everybody. Well have a news conference in a little while. Were going to announce the people that well be talking to. And Im going to be making a decision pretty quickly.
And its being done in conjunction with governors. We have tremendous support from governors. And what I do is going to be done in conjunction with governors.

He could get the same reaction by handing each of them a $100 bill. Does he have sany idea what he is saying? I would not allow myself to stand in the same room as him, listening to his bullshit. He is a repulsive looking horror.
