Injections of Bleach? Beams of Light? Trump Is Self-Destructing Before Our Eyes

“And he’s going to get re-elected.”

Not a day goes by without several friends — Republicans as well as Democrats — saying that to me. It’s the blunt coda to a bloated recitation of Donald Trump’s failures during this pandemic. It’s a whimper of surrender following a scream of disbelief.

Tens of thousands of Americans die; what does the president do? Spreads bad information. Seeds false hope. Reinvents history, reimagines science, prattles on about his supposed heroism, bellyaches about his self-proclaimed martyrdom and savages anyone who questions his infallibility.

In lieu of leadership, grandstanding. In place of empathy, a snit. And he’s going to get re-elected.

With that refrain we perform a spiritual prophylaxis. We prepare for despair.

But somewhere along the way, we started to confuse a coping mechanism with reasoned analysis. We began to treat a verbal tic as inevitable truth.

It isn’t. While Trump may indeed be careening toward four more years, it’s at least as possible that he’s self-destructing before our eyes.

it truly makes me want to reach out and smack them. I refuse to even consider this. Demoralizing thoughts impact our efforts and I'm determined that we all give MAXIMUM effort to elected Biden and Dems in House AND Senate in November.

the pandemic. Its even lower after. Despite the rah rah rah from Faux News and small groups of protesters - - most people are no longer buying his BS. There were a lot of people that felt disenfranchised with govt ( not talking about his hardcore racist, evangelical base) - just folks that thought government was not working and wanted someone to disrupt things - they were willing to take a chance on Trump due to their anger at govt- hate for Hillary- since she represented "the elite"- some really bought the " great businessman persona" - That has not proven to be true and those folks cannot deny it.

Govt is still at a standstill - worse since Trump- We've had the shutdown - he's proven to be a horrible negotiator. Not the hallmark of a business wunderkind with a " great brain". For all the love letters with Kim - no deal. He tore up the Iran deal thinking he could bully them to do what he wanted. Nope, no deal there. Trade war with China which was supposed to be so easy? Nah.
Those people that voted for "The Apprentice Donald Trump" realize they got a defective product and they want a refund.
He's not the guy they thought he was, that was going shake up Washington to make the change they were looking for.

Couple that with other people that have been disgusted by his behavior - suburban folks, women.

I would even argue that some white folks that have a level of comfortability with racism - don't want to see it in your face and out in the streets like this. They prefer to have it in hidden and realize that nazis in the streets and a president that supports it, is not good for business and not good for their reputations when they are linked to Trump.

Black folks and other minorities are not going back to the back of the bus and separate water coolers. No matter how much racists wish that to be. They are going to fight like hell, and allies are going to fight like hell and call them out. Bad for business. Your business is not going to exist for a long time if you only depend on MAGA red hat wearing folks. Those folks want it to go back to a more ' unseen racism" - They realize that can't happen under Trump.

And now with him de-compensating in a time that you need strong leadership - I think its time to stick a fork in him. And he knows this and it is terrifying. The thing to worry about - is what damage can he do as reality sets in for him that he is headed for a loss. Republican politicians that have been defending him, cannot go back to their states and paint a rosy picture of what a great job he's doing. People can see the carnage in American lives while he stands there fighting with reporters and demanding that they give him congratulations.

This fight he wants to pick with the post office - Uhm yeah, again, another foolish strategy that people will see as piss poor business dealing. You want the post office to raise prices 4 times while we are going to be in an economic crisis for an unforeseen future? You want Americans who have had their 401Ks wiped out, lost jobs, to pay 4 times for postage? Many who have come to depend on getting medical items and prescription by mail, have started doing more online shopping for fear of getting infected by going out to stores? - He just keeps adding nails to his coffin.

I think the people that bought the good businessman schtick will be returning him for a refund.

His cult will stick with him no matter what, but I hope the sane republican and independents who voted for him in 2016 have come to their senses.

It now looks like all but about 25% can see that Turd is endangering their own lives and their families. No matter how much they admire his cruelty, it's scary now that it's aimed at ALL of us. Hard to vote for that, no matter how much they like his bullshit.
