Madison Ever since the Citizens United decision by the US Supreme Court, Americans have had their voices ignored due to the unlimited amount of contributions by those deemed as corporate persons. In Wisconsin it is no different, as Scott Walkers pockets have been lined with an influx of cash from wealthy corporate donors. In a recent finance report filed with the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board, Walker raked in a cool $13 million dollars.
It was soon after the report was published that the media picked up on Scott Walkers transfer of $60,000 to his criminal defense fund. As we poured over the cash contributions, one such donation gave us cause to pause and look to see if that donation was in any way designated for the fund.
According to Scott Walkers campaign finance report, on May 1, 2012, Walkers campaign received a whopping $25,000 donation from Grant E. Nelson of Prescott, Wisconsin. Nelsons donation should raise a few eyebrows for a number of reasons. First and foremost is the fact that Wisconsin campaign finance law limits an individual contribution of $10,000...
The Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesman Graeme Zielinski had this to say about Scott Walker's campaign fundraising efforts:
Scott Walker is already part of the largest criminal fundraising episode in Wisconsin history. His lack of ethics permeates his entire administration and it looks very much like he imported his criminal "pay for play" ethos from Milwaukee to Madison. Wisconsin has never had a governor who needed a criminal defense fund and hopefully, she will never have one again.
