Bezos Earth Fund & now Non-profits.
Bezos puts his money where his mouth is.
Worthy causes all around & the beneficiaries exist from the familiar, to the smallest unseen corners of the world.
Thanks Mr Bezos. .

(15,325 posts)These are a few programs he's funded in just recent years.
*$2 billion fund for education programs for the homeless
*$10 billion to fight climate change, Bezos Earth Fund
*$15 million to Princeton's Neuroscience Institute.
* $2.5 million to Washington United for Marriage, a group that fought for marriage equality.
*He has donated millions to education and homeless non-profits.
*Bezos has also contributed funds to organizations that fight for freedom of the press.
And more....
These are just little drops in the bucket for all the money he's made on the backs of his workers. It really and truly is the least he could do while his employees struggle to make ends meet.

(15,325 posts)On Climate he's taken the top 4 established environmental groups under his umbrella. Until now each has had to operate seperately. They now become a more powerful voice as one.
Bezos is prepared to give $100 million each to four of the most established environmental groups in the countrythe Nature Conservancy, the Environmental Defense Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the World Wildlife Fund,
Bezos has also committed $100 million to the World Resources Institute, a sustainability-research organization that operates globally, the two sources said.
And he has promised smaller amounts of $10 million to $50 million to four nonprofits that specialize in climate and energy research, the sources said.
Those groups are the Energy Foundation, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the ClimateWorks Foundation, and the Rocky Mountain Institute.
Sustainable development & many more research groups, & non profits are the latest recipients.
I haven't got a list of them all, but I would bet hunger & food is also in that newest group somewhere.
It'll be interesting to watch what they all do without the constrains of funding slowing their progress.
Its all good.

(1,041 posts)Well, given how dependent we are on Amazon post Covid, I am pleased to hear this.
I do wish their "if you like this, you might like these" suggestion algorithms offered more balanced stuff on politics but oh well...maybe they cannot work that way.
They are driving an insane right wing relative of mine crazier-she buys one crazy right wing book, they offer her more..and she is sort of self radicalizing without any external help....
But I don't blame Amazon for that..not sure what the solution is...re auto-radicalization of the crazy by algorithms.
Budi
(15,325 posts)Well at least her Amazon orders are now contributing to saving the planet, without her knowing.
Actually that's the best way to get even the most radicalized involved in doing their part.
..as she builds her library, even.
Crazy stuff !
