Carville: Wake up Democrats; you could lose

By James Carville, CNN Contributor
Tue May 8, 2012

....
The latest Democracy Corps poll was 47-47. The Real Clear Politics average of polls has the president up a whopping three-tenths of a percentage point. And I am hearing the garbage that Democratic donors are telling Democratic fundraisers "Obama has it in the bag."

Newsflash: Nothing is in the bag. Nothing can be taken for granted. Everybody from the precinct door-knocker, to the Chicago high command, to the White House, to the halls of Congress, to the Senate and House committees, to congressional leadership, here is a simple message: If we don't get on the offense, reconnect with the American people, talk about how the middle class is in a struggle for its very existence, hold the Republicans accountable and fight like the dickens, we are going to lose....

How can he be married to someone who was so close to such a Republican?

I don't understand how that works. Do they avoid talking about politics?

I can't imagine a marriage that works for a political consultant if his spouse is from the opposite party. Either party affiliation does not matter to him or ?????

If Democratic values are Carville's core values, how can he stay married to the likes of Matalin?

I find it amazing (and sad and hilarious) when someone posted a poll asking, "how much will Obama win by" with options ranging from 1% to > 5% (with > 5% running away with it) - as if it is a foregone conclusion.

GOP dirty tricks + Koch $$$ + RW hatred + white bread Mitt = potential disaster for O. If you are thinking anything less you are deluding yourself.

This country voted for George W. Bush. TWICE.

The past 3+ year has shown us bigotry is alive and well in our country.

The Pandora's Box of Crazy has been opened and its inhabitants fill our airwaves, our ballots, and the streets.

The 1%'s wallets are open and bottomless. And it's all LEGAL.

O has an uphill battle to win #2.

You need to wake the heck up if you want O in office in 1012. Willful ignorance is dangerous and will NOT help him get elected.

But I closed the book on him when he idiotically claimed that the Democratic Party won in 2008 "in spite of Howard Dean, not because of him."

Hey Carville, prior to Dean, with the exception of the 2006 Congressional elections, the Democratic Party experienced failure after failure and defeat after defeat. They couldn't form an effective opposition to anything, not the Iraq War, not the Patriot Act, not the economy, not Guantanamo, and certainly not the Republicans.

And then when the corporate Dem faithful showed Dean the door, guess what? You got routed again in 2010. I agree with what you've said here, but on everything else, you're an asshat.
