6 Fully Vaxxed Guests, Outdoor Wedding, Caught Delta: Ones w Pfizer, Moderna Shots Didn't Die

- '6 fully vaccinated people who attended an outdoor wedding caught the Delta variant, but the ones with Pfizer and Moderna shots didn't die,' MSN/Business Insider, July 12, 2021. - Ed.

Six fully vaccinated people who attended an outdoor wedding in Texas in April came down with COVID-19 - a small outbreak that underscores how effective US-authorized vaccines are against even variants of the virus.

Though the vaccines made by Pfizer and Moderna may not knock out every COVID-19 case, especially now that the more infectious Delta variant dominates across the US, they are very good at preventing serious illness and death from COVID-19.

A preprint study from Baylor College of Medicine found that only one person who'd gotten an Indian-made vaccine, Covaxin, died after attending the 92-person wedding near Houston in April. It was held in a "large, open-air tent" before the Delta variant was circulating widely in the US, the study said. Everyone in attendance was required to be fully vaccinated.

The study's authors suspect that the Delta variant was introduced at the wedding by two people who had traveled from India and tested negative before their flight but developed symptoms in the US. Two men in their 60s had the most severe COVID-19 cases. All six guests who contracted symptomatic COVID-19 after the wedding were over 50...

*Yahoo News version of the article, almost identical except for this info.:

- Guests were required to be fully vaccinated at the event, though that policy operated on the honor system.

- All the COVID-19 patients said they'd had close encounters with those two people (2 travelers from India) during the wedding, according to the study.

- The other people who contracted symptomatic COVID-19 after the wedding had preconditions including hypertension and diabetes or were classified as overweight, the study said.

mild, long haul, double dose, whatever else.

I just added several points in the similar Yahoo News version that are posted above. This story confirms what I've read, that co-morbidities work against people, esp. over 50-60, and including being overweight.

caught polio didn't die from it, either. But they did wish they had never caught it, especially the ones who used braces and wheelchairs the rest of their lives, or spent months in an iron lung and had symptoms recurring as they got older.

Covid leaves permanent damage with people who recover from it, too, even with people who were asymptomatic.

your bucket list can wait, your wedding can wait, all of it can wait. Do you want a death toll associated with your wedding?

it doesn't seem like it's going away. The virus will just keep mutating and some form of it is gonna be around forever it seems. I don't think people are gonna be putting off life events anymore. I'm worried everyone will just have to take chances at catching it.

6. It surely won't ever disappear if morons keep throwing parties

It's truly the height of idiocy to bring people together from hither and yon to party during a deadly outbreak. It's just unconscionable. Someone is now dead because these twits just had to have a big wedding. D'oh! - your love just ended someones life - remember that at each anniversary morons.

7. But you don't need to have 100 people in attendance to get married.

Maybe that's really easy for me to say since I am an anti-social introvert, but jeez. Who wants to hold an event that kills off some of your loved ones?

I live in New York state, and I was extremely lucky to get my first Pfizer shot toward the end of February, and my second halfway through March. Those two vaccine shots wouldn't have had full efficacy until mid-April. Maybe I'm mistaken, but Texas was running far behind New York in vaccinating people.

Unless all those who came down with COVID were first responders, I'd have to question the veracity of this story.

WTF??? What were you thinking?

Stay away from the source. Don't go to India. If you must go, stay home and quarantine when you return from there. You have probably caused more death than the guy carrying an AK47.

If one single thing has been demonstrated by republicans, it's that they have no honor whatsoever.
