(17,175 posts)I think misogyny is stronger than race hatred. It's close, but men have hated women much longer than they have hated blacks, so anybody who puts a woman in her place is going to be approved of. I thought that the selection of Barack Obama in 2008 over Hillary Clinton supported this hypothesis, although obviously there were many other considerations. And then in 2016, the woman abuser won over the woman again, strengthening the hypothesis. So, while Mr Walker's race may count against him in the hearts of many, his abuse of women counts more in his favor. And he's a football player running in Georgia, after all.

(115,576 posts)He's never been a candidate before. A Senate race is a very tough place to make a maiden campaign. And that goes double when you are talking about what will likely be one of the most closely watched and expensive Senate races in the country. Walker will now be under a very bright light from the second he made clear his candidacy -- and if past is prologue, he could struggle at times under such close scrutiny.
In GOP World, these "problems" are features, not bugs.
