Why Won’t the WSJ Cover the New Economy?

from YES! Magazine:

Why Won’t the Wall Street Journal Cover the Cooperative Economy?
Cooperative businesses are proliferating quickly, but you wouldn’t know it from reading the Wall Street Journal.

Social pain, anger at ecological degradation and the inability of traditional politics to address deep economic failings has fueled an extraordinary amount of practical on-the-ground institutional experimentation and innovation by activists, economists and socially minded business leaders in communities around the country.

A vast democratized "new economy" is slowly emerging throughout the United States. The general public, however, knows almost nothing about it because the American press simply does not cover the developing institutions and strategies.

For instance, a sample assessment of coverage between January and November of 2012 by the most widely circulated newspaper in the United States, the Wall Street Journal, found ten times more references to caviar than to employee-owned firms, a growing sector of the economy that involves more than $800 billion in assets and 10 million employee-owners—around three million more individuals than are members of unions in the private sector.

Worker ownership—the most common form of which involves ESOPs, or Employee Stock Ownership Plans—was mentioned in a mere five articles. By contrast, over 60 articles referred to equestrian activities like horse racing, and golf clubs appeared in 132 pieces over the same period. ...................(more)

From my view, and discovering who is really who such as in the ownership of the media is starting to reveal itself. Totally without hesitation the media brought America to where we are today. The scary part is a huge sector of the population is motivated by thirty second commercials.

Clearly, now typified by the proclamation with sensational anticipation of the famous looked for “Super Bowl Commercials”. Here, mainstream media forging the frame work to stir, or better steer America. The incredible hypocrisy was noticed once when I was viewing a professor on utube describing how advertising in America is at least a fifty percent fraud. Holy smokes America that was an educated firm truism.

But, in our hearts we know the political advertisements are just heaps and heaps of lie after lies. With that said justifies the insane way our system works. America is loaded with heaps and heaps of corruption. If you or I lie in the our work place we would be fired, yet, politicians who run for office lie about issues so much so and get to their political work place, then lie some more. Exampled by the Governor of Wisconsin doing away with collective bargaining which is the core elements of the first amendment. Or, the Governor of Michigan, totally ignoring the oath of office to both the State Constitution and the National Constitution firing democratically elected citizens.

From my view they operate illegally. It is what all of America need to address. It is crazy. Both the Unions and ESOP should be able to work in the capital system just as corporate and single private ownership should be able to work. The very serious down side to an only stock ownership economy is the current stock trading system has to be and must be decentralized. Big money can and will pull a Bane Canary money laundering scheme by politically connected take overs, or business bust via with the guaranteed help of the Federal Reserve.

Those in the know will apply all advantages of the laws the way they are now. It’s called Murphy’s law of Greed. “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong". The real problem is it never has gone wrong. I am beginning to think there are no two party systems; America has only a one percent system. So called Republicans parading around as Democratic blue dogs, or Rhino’s parading around as Democratic persons. The real kicker is when I heard Nancy Pelosi once say “We will not be able to know what is in a bill until after we vote for it”. America, that has to be insane. Or have these politicians been doing this all the time. Making theater on the electromagnetic spectrum knowing what they want, then write the law up after a vote in the Congress or Senate. To me that is a total breach of legislation, and especially justice.

This is the Yellow Rag of the 1%ers and nothing more. Five families control all the so called media and it's a Willard Harvest at this time in History. With the advent of streaming video expanding with every day, their days are just about over. Got to love the expansion of the foreign news services here in the U.S.. Time and truth will prevail, thanks to Occupy. Interesting how the 1%ers are truly unaware of what is happening to and by the 99%ers. It's STUPID has no cure syndrome. Ploy Sci Majors are rejoicing and enjoying all of the trends and shifts taking place in our country and it bodes damn well for the 99%ers.
