D.C. police: We'll arrest armed protesters.

'Officers would arrest marchers who plan to openly carry rifles into the city in violation of District law.

“Passing into the District of Columbia with loaded firearms is a violation of the law and we’ll have to treat it as such,” Metropolitan Police Department Chief Cathy Lanier said.'

But I suspect the cowards who plan to march will just turn around and go home whilst muttering under their collective breaths about the evil gubmint.

They want another Harper's Ferry to rally their troops to overthrow the government.

13. My Thought

When I read Chief Lanier's comment I thought if the police try to arrest any of these people one of them could start shooting. It might be better for the D.C. Police to leave the protesters alone as long as they do not threaten unarmed citizens who are not participating in the protest.

It seems this could also turn bad if these people start walking around D.C. and someone, or a group of people confronts them and someone in the group decides to shoot someone. I am not trying to make out like all of these gun protesters just want to shoot someone, but it only takes one person to lose their temper in order for a problem to start.

Being in DC,any crimes charged will be federal, for whatever value that is.If felony charges, convictions would then disqualify these dumb asses from legally owning firearms, right?
Their fears of gubmint taking their guns would be realized, brought on by THEIR own actions. The idea makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over!

Say, Adam, any more to add to your "dying on our feet" statement?

Don't want to "live on your knees?" How about living face-down on the ground with your eyes stinging from pepper-spray and your hands 'cuffed behind you?

Happy Fourth of July, Adam!!! (is it too much to ask for you to keep it "safe and sane?&quot

That could be a nice consequence of their armed march on DC.

Kind of difficult to arrest, charge, and take large numbers to trial, but hope DC does it.

I've lived in the area since '78, attended July 4 fireworks on The Mall for years, one of the BEST celebrations, and am really pissed that these a*holes seek to mess with it in this way.

that would be tied up dealing with these cretins - of the 4th of July, no less. Not to give potential terrorists any ideas, but seems like these gun nuts are creating an opportunity for anyone looking to take advantage of the situation somewhere else in DC.

We were unarmed then, though and even got permits. Because we wanted to change the way the government was acting, not dismantle it to sell off to the Koch brothers, who support the Libertarians, Teahadists, etc.

This is only one of their many paid movements. They want all public workers, unions; labor, environmental, voting and minority rights done away with.

These armed Fascists will be on parade July 4th. The right wing media will love them and call whatever the D.C. police do terrible and wrong, no doubt.

I'd love to see them politely put in cuffs and hauled to jail, charged for being jerks. Wait, that's not a crime or they'd've been in jail already.
