Florida Police Chief Agrees George Zimmerman is Another 'Sandy Hook Waiting to Happen'

Florida Police Chief Agrees George Zimmerman is Another ‘Sandy Hook Waiting to Happen’

In a series of emails obtained by ThinkProgress, Police Chief Steve Bracknell appears to agree in a series of emails that Zimmerman is a “ticking time bomb” and another “Sandy Hook” or “Aurora” “waiting to happen.” As the head of the Lake Mary Police Department, Bracknell is in charge of the Florida area where Zimmerman and his estranged wife currently live.

The chief reportedly confirmed the authenticity of the emails to ThinkProgress, which were sent in response to a concerned citizen named Santiago Rodiguez. Rodriquez initially wriote to Bracknell to express his disappointment in how the police department handled the recent domestic dispute between the man who was recently acquitted in the Trayvon Martin murder trial and wife Shellie Zimmerman. He angrily pointed to Zimmerman’s “pattern” of “criminal history” and questioned why the department did not do more to lock him up.

Rodriquez ended his email by saying “Zimmerman is a Sandy Hook, Aurora waiting to happen,” referring to the recent mass shootings in Connecticut and Colorado. He added, “your job is to protect the communities and and you are failing big time,” and threatened to demand a Justice Department investigation into a potential “cover up.”

Bracknell responded to the man’s email with a meticulous list of answers to his specific questions, with one answer standing out for its frankness: “Your reference to Sandy Hook…. I agree.”

He bragged about getting off on assault and domestic violence to his myspace friends, and elsewhere.

Here is George Zimmerman, the killer of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin, yukking it up in court today during testimony about what constitutes a legal use of deadly force:

"You don't have to wait until you're almost dead until you can defend yourself?" West asked.

"No, I would advise you probably don't do that," Carter replied.

That response prompted several seconds of laughter from the usually-emotionless Zimmerman before he was able to look downward to regain his composure.

He grinned maniacally when he got off. No remorse for anything.

He'll kill someone else. In googling for pictures he's Stormfront's idol.

Under Florida law, eligibility for a concealed weapons permit can be revoked if an individual has been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor crime of violence, domestic violence incident or certain alcohol or substance abuse offenses. Zimmerman has been found guilty of none of those.

Now if the IPad that Zimmerman allegedly damaged in the confrontation with his soon to be ex-wife and her father shows proof that Zimmerman is guilty of domestic violence, he can lose his concealed weapons permit.

Who's bending over backwards to get him off all the time?

It sure seems strange to me...people get beaten up by the police for singing in a public place (Wisc.), but Zimmy gets to walk over and over.

I know it's two different States, but still...

to keep this asshole from taking down innocent citizens when he finally flames out.

He has a bodyguard -- his wife is the one who needs one, as well as anyone who lives anywhere near him.

You think that the police should be able to neutralize him but it's not easy according to the law. WTF? Can you imagine not being able to charge someone with assaulting his wife and threatening her, when he himself destroyed the evidence and you have video of him destroying the evidence? Holy shit!

Shellie must be kicking herself for sticking by him while the trial played out. I want to be mad at her but I'll bet she is mad enough at herself. Poor thing married very, very badly.

I read a transcript where she said through her lawyer that she wants this to be over asap, hang the consequences. She just wants out. With a whimper and not a bang. I don't think she's speaking metaphorically. She'll be years in therapy getting over this. If she lives through it.

I've been there. I know that desperate feeling of wanting out so bad you're willing to leave a lot of money on the table. Walk away with nothing.

There are many of us who predicted something would go down after the trial if he was acquitted. But as stupid as he is, I honestly never thought him stupid enough to turn on his wife. He's completely hopeless.

This guy will try to take someone with him when he finally loses it altogether. We just have to pray that he's a lousy shot and that whoever is there when he finally erupts is armed, and is good shot. Target is wide enough.

Pray folks.
