How many jobs did the GM Bailout save?.... the MSM inaction
Redfairen posted this two days agoStudy: 'Successful' auto bailout of GM, Chrysler saved millions of jobs, $284B in personal income

The Center for Automotive Research study -- called ''The Effect on the U.S. Economy of the Successful Restructuring of General Motors'' found that the controversial 2008-2009 bailout, saved 2.6 million jobs in 2009 alone and $284.4 billion in personal income was preserved over 2009-2010.
Summary - what follows are the headlines (and some detail I found today when I googled "GM Bailout saved jobs" )
Report: GM bailout saved 1.2 million jobs
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/12/09/gm-treasury-bailout-jobs-saved/3928767/
..but they did include this ----- (Ford) CEO Alan Mullaly said last year, "If GM and Chrysler would've gone into free-fall, that could've taken the entire supply base into free-fall also, and taken the U.S. from a recession into a depression. That is why we testified on the behalf of our competitors even though we clearly did not need precious taxpayer money."

Auto bailout saved 1.5 million U.S. jobs -study

~Reuters DID include this = more of the story~
CAR estimated that a complete shutdown of the industry that was bailed out in 2009 would have resulted in the loss of 2.63 million jobs and those losses would still have stood at more than 1.5 million in 2010. If only GM had been shut down, the job losses would have been almost 1.2 million in 2009, shrinking to 675,000 in 2010.
~and then there is the Moonie Times~

(1,306 posts)They report failures, negative poll numbers and brawls.
They will never keep a score board showing who was
wrong and who was right. If they did, the Dems would
be deemed the "winner" of every argument.
Promoting partisan fights is the foundation of their business
model. Perpetual controversies and opinions -- no empirical
conclusions based on facts because measuring outcomes and
final conclusions would kill that golden goose.
Today's story lines are perfect examples: nothing about
the auto bailout, nothing about ACA website fixes, nothing
about reductions in the debt, no positive spins on the
unemployment statistics...
Handshaking with commies, Obama's low poll numbers, etc.
that's where the money is!
